NBA All-Star Game 2023 Rosters: Captains and Starters Revealed for Draft Format
The only undefeated dynasty in the NBA will have another opportunity to extend its winning streak this year.
LeBron James and Giannis Antetokounmpo were named the captains of the 2023 NBA All-Star Game, which will take place on Feb. 19 in Salt Lake City. Team LeBron has won all five games in the current format which calls for captains to draft their teams instead of the traditional matchup between the Eastern and Western Conferences.
The other eight starters whom James and Antetokounmpo will draft from were announced Thursday:

The format and many of the rules around this year's All-Star Weekend are the same as they have been in the recent past.
The two captains were the players from each conference who received the most fan votes, while the rest of the starters were determined by a formula of 50 percent fan voting, 25 percent player voting and 25 percent media voting.
Reserves, who will be announced Feb. 2, will be chosen by the league's coaches.
The game will also feature the same target score format from last year where the respective teams will attempt to win each of the first three quarters, which are the traditional 12 minutes long, before the clock is turned off for the fourth quarter.
That is when the teams will play until one team reaches the target score, which will be 24 points more than the leading side's cumulative score through three quarters. The total of 24 was chosen to honor Kobe Bryant, who wore that number for the second half of his career.
The biggest difference in this year's format will come when James and Antetokounmpo actually pick their teams as captains.
Draft day has happened in advance of All-Star Weekend in previous iterations of this format, but the NBA announced the captains will choose their rosters in a live and televised pregame segment just before the game starts this year.
Think playground-style drafting, which will surely make for an entertaining start to the festivities ahead of the game.
Captains will still draft from the other eight starters first before moving to the reserves, and the conference affiliation of each player will not matter when drafting.
That could open the door to more trash-talking and perhaps even some bulletin board material for the All-Star Game, which will air on TNT.
