Early National Signing Day 2022: CFB Recruit Announcement Schedule, Predictions

David KenyonDec 21, 2022

After months―and, for many prospects, years―of patience, the long-awaited moment has arrived. High school players can finally sign a national letter of intent and make their college destination official.

No longer will the phrase "non-binding commitment" follow these athletes; instead, they'll be formally tied to a program.

However, we don't know every intention just yet. Some players are uncommitted, and others may be rethinking a verbal pledge down to the last second. Either way, the CFB world will be carefully tracking 10 blue-chip prospects, among others, who are revealing their college choice at some point on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday of the early window.

All recruit information and team rankings are from 247Sports.

Predictions

3 of 3

Among the 10 players featured, there's a pair of 5-star teammates. James Smith and Qua Russaw attend the same high school in Alabama, and the state's flagship university is seemingly in the driver's seat. They would bolster what's already ranked the nation's No. 1 class in 2023.

But as Bama lands the Carver standouts, Georgia also secures commitments from a couple of defenders. Damon Wilson is the marquee name, though Jordan Hall is a top-100 prospect himself.

Otherwise, the commitments are scattered around the country.

The remaining 5-stars―Matayo Uiagalelei and Desmond Ricks―pick Ohio State and LSU, respectively. Micah Tease heads to Texas A&M, and soon-to-be SEC rival Oklahoma lands Tausili Akana. Damari Brown chooses Miami, and Jyaire Hill rounds out the list with a Michigan commitment.
