BCS Bowl Projections: Which Players Will Have Greatest NFL Impact?

T.J. McaloonDec 29, 2011

The BCS bowl games have a lot of great collegiate talent that have helped their teams get to these prestigious bowl games. They have played extremely well over the course of this year, and will shine when they take their talents to the next level, the NFL.

However, there will only be five players, on this list, from these bowl games that will have a great impact whenever they decide to go pro. It may be next year, it could be in two years or even further down the road.

However, whenever they do decide to enter the NFL draft, they will have a huge impact on their team.

Michigan Wolverines: Quarterback Denard Robinson

1 of 5

Denard is "Mr. Everything" to the Michigan Wolverines offense. The explosive quarterback posted some big passing numbers this year, throwing for 2,056 passing yards and 18 touchdowns, but he also led this Michigan team in rushing with 1,163 yards and 16 touchdowns.

Whenever Robinson decides to enter the NFL draft he will immediately have a big impact either at the quarterback position or as a wide receiver.

Robinson is one of those players that you have to be aware of whenever he is on the field. When he does make it to the NFL, he will have a lot of defensive coordinators that are pulling their hair out trying to stop him.

Alabama Crimson Tide: Running Back Trent Richardson

2 of 5

Whenever Trent decides to go pro, which looks likely to happen after the BCS National Championship game, he will be the starting running back on his team.

Trent had a huge season this year, carrying this Alabama team to an 11-1 finish and a spot in the BCS National Championship game. His 263 carries, 1,583 yards and 20 touchdowns were good enough to place him among the finalists for the Heisman Trophy.

Whichever team happens to land the talented running back will get a player that has a punishing running style that goes perfectly with his ability to stop on a dime to make a cut.

He already has a lot of plays made for SportsCenter's Top 10. When he makes it to the pros, he will only see his list of highlights continue to grow.

LSU Tigers: Cornerback Tyrann Mathieu

3 of 5

The man they call "Honey Badger" has exploded onto the college football world this year. He has been a huge part of LSU's defense and a game-changer on special teams.

Mathieu cannot enter the draft for another year, so NFL fans will have to wait before they can see Mathieu on their team.

Until then, we can just enjoy watching Mathieu terrorize college quarterbacks by picking off poorly-attempted passes.

Maybe next year, Mathieu can make it back to New York City with a better statistical chance at winning the Heisman Trophy.

Oklahoma State Cowboys: Wide Receiver Justin Blackmon

4 of 5

Justin Blackmon has been an absolute beast while at Oklahoma State.

In only three years, he's accumulated 224 receptions, 3,178 yards and 37 touchdowns. Really, the majority of those stats have come in the last two years.

This year, Blackmon has seen his numbers dip, but they still are better than a majority of the other wide receivers in college football. Blackmon still had 113 receptions, 1,336 yards and 15 touchdowns.

Whichever team lands the talented receiver will have a big playmaker that can jumpstart a stale offense.

Stanford Cardinal: Quarterback Andrew Luck

5 of 5

I couldn't have a future-of-the-NFL list without having the man that so many NFL teams are hoping they can land.

Luck is one of those special talents that have a lot of hype surrounding them when they enter the NFL, and yet still live up to all that hype whenever they step foot on an NFL field.

We've seen it before with Peyton Manning, Eli Manning, Philip Rivers and most recently, Cam Newton. Luck can join these group of players whenever he is selected in the draft next year.

He has all of the skill sets that general managers look for in a quarterback. He's cool under pressure, has a big arm, has the smarts to run a pro-style offense and he can be mobile whenever he has to be.

Luck is one of those players that will turn a franchise around from the first day he steps onto the playing field.
