Why America Simply Must See Tim Tebow Host Saturday Night Live
So, now that we have had a completely manufactured controversy over Saturday Night Live's Tim Tebow sketch from this weekend, word comes that NBC would actually love to have him host the show. Personally I think this is a fantastic idea for a bunch of reasons.
First off, it would give Tebow a chance to show that he has a sense of humor about himself and his image. He has to know that, while many people respect the fact that he has such strong faith, some are turned off by it because it seems like a bit much at times. Being on SNL would allow him the opportunity to poke fun at his image in a few sketches, while possibly showing that he isn't serious all the time. If anything, it would only increase his appeal and marketability.

For SNL, the benefits are obvious. Having Tebow on would almost certainly produce a ratings bonanza, as I'm sure anyone remotely interested in sports would tune in. While quarterbacks Tom Brady and Peyton Manning have hosted the show—with mixed comedic results—a guy with Tebow's current fame level could take things up a notch.
In the end, it would be a fun thing for the 24-year-old to do to show that he doesn't take himself or his image too seriously and that his fans and opponents need to lighten up a bit. It would be a great way to squash some of the animosity between the two sides of the Tebow argument.
This is a win-win for everyone involved, and as sports fans, we can only hope that it comes together and that Tebow accepts the chance to do it.
