2011 PPR Fantasy Football Week 16: Wide Receivers (WR) Rankings and Projections

Sean E. DouglasDec 21, 2011

Jeremy Maclin @ Cowboys –

After suffering a minor setback with his hamstring injury against the Dolphins, Jeremy Maclin came back against the Jets to finish second on the team in targets with five and totaled three receptions for 57 yards. More importantly, Coach Andy Reid confirmed that Maclin finished the game without re-aggravating his hammy. In what should be a better matchup against the Cowboys, Maclin is a worthy WR-3 play, even in PPR leagues as I expect him to see an increase in targets this week.

Michael Vick finally started to look like the quarterback we remember from a year ago last week, as he gave the Jets fits making plays in the running game and passing game. Look for Maclin to come away with over 75 yards and a score this week.

Nate Washington vs. Jaguars –

Despite battling through injuries this past week, veteran receiver Nate Washington put together another solid performance and this time it was Matt Hasselbeck that was getting him the football. Washington didn’t just lead his team in targets, he finished fourth among receivers last week in the NFL with 13, hauling in seven of them for 62 yards and a score.

The Titans don’t figure to play from behind at home against the Jaguars, which would lead the team to keep the football on the ground. But then again, who really thought the Colts would run away with a win last week against them? With Chris Johnson battling an ankle injury and Javon Ringer lost for the season, expect the Titans to come out throwing the football to build a lead. That means good things for Washington and he should get strong consideration as your WR-3 play this week.
