NFL Playoff Picture: 3 Bubble Teams Who Fell the Hardest

Ryan RudnanskyDec 19, 2011

If you were looking for upsets, Week 15 of the NFL season was a dream come true.

Without a doubt, Week 15 produced the most shockers out of any week this season, and you had to wonder if something was horribly, horribly wrong with this world.

Week 15 shook experts, rattled fans and was yet another indicator that anything can happen in the National Football League.

Given the amount of upsets, in this piece I'll just be giving you the contenders who were on the edge of the playoff picture and raised doubts about their strength in Week 15.

Here are three bubble contenders whose bubbles burst loudly in Week 15, hurting the ears of all small children in the vicinity.

3. Chicago Bears (7-7)

It wasn't like the Bears' loss to the Seattle Seahawks was a complete shocker in Week 15.

They had been struggling without starting quarterback Jay Cutler and had lost their last three games, as the Seahawks had won their last two games.

Nonetheless, the Bears' 38-14 drubbing at Soldier Field was hard to watch, especially for Bears fans.

Backup quarterback Caleb Hanie threw two interceptions that were returned for touchdowns, and the Bears were outscored 31-0 in the second half...at home.

This team has crumbled before our very eyes.

2. New York Giants (7-7)

How do you beat the Dallas Cowboys, 37-34, and then lose to the Washington Redskins, 23-10, the next week?

I can't tell who is more inconsistent at this point, the Giants or the Cowboys.

Giants quarterback Eli Manning had a disastrous day against the Redskins, throwing three interceptions, and the Giants took a step backward after taking a step forward the previous week.

Who will win the NFC East?

Whoever is less horrible.

1. Tennessee Titans (7-7)

The Titans have been average all season long, but you never expected them to lose to the Indianapolis Colts, no less by two touchdowns.

That's what happened in their 27-13 embarrassment in Week 15, as starting quarterback Matt Hasselbeck and running back Chris Johnson had disappointing games.

The Titans are still a game behind the New York Jets and Cincinnati Bengals for the final AFC wild-card spot, but they have a worse conference record at the moment, which is the tie-breaker.

There's nothing like giving a team their first win in 14 games.
