If nothing else, the Los Angeles Clippers trade to acquire point guard Chris Paul from the Hornets has secured them a recurring spot on ESPN’s top 10 list.

The combination of Paul and Blake Griffin is going to make for some spectacular alley-oops for years to come.

Barring the Lakers getting Dwight Howard, the Clippers may now be the best team in Los Angeles.

The trade will send Eric Gordon, Chris Kaman and Al-Farouq Aminu to New Orleans, along with a first-round draft pick acquired from Minnesota.

The Clippers will now have arguably the best point guard and without a doubt the best power forward in the league.

They matched Golden State’s offer for free agent center DeAndre Jordan, giving them an athletic big man, and claimed veteran guard Chauncey Billups off of waivers, giving them a nice rotation.

The Clippers have said that they have no intention of waiving Billups now that they have signed Paul, and it would make sense to keep them both.

If they are going to be a legitimate contender, they need more than just two stars on the floor.  Bench players and leadership are crucial in the NBA playoffs.

So Clipper fans get excited.

This move definitely shows that the Clippers are no longer settling and are definitely willing to make moves to put a championship caliber team together.

Even if the team is a year or two away from contending for an NBA championship, you are going to have one of the most electric combos in the league, and every night is going to be fun and exciting to watch.
