Albert Haynesworth and the 25 Most Hated Players in the NFL Today
Albert Haynesworth is somewhere near the top of any list where people are talking about the players they hate the most in the NFL. He stomps on people's heads, runs into people with his car and signs huge contracts before shutting it down.
Here is a list of the most hated players in the NFL today.
Albert Haynesworth
1 of 25The thing that makes people hate Albert Haynesworth is that he is a waste of talent. He has the ability to be the most disruptive defense player in the NFL. Unfortunately, he only cares about making money, so once he got the huge contract from the Washington Redskins, he shut it down.
Haynesworth has also had multiple off-field problems over the last couple of years that have turned people against him.
Peyton Hillis
2 of 25Not too many people knew who Peyton Hillis was before he burst onto the scene last season. This year he was on the cover of Madden. He was also a very high pick in most fantasy drafts.
His numbers have been very disappointing after a year of injuries and a contract dispute. Some people will never forgive a guy who they use a high fantasy draft pick on who does not produce.
Chris Johnson
3 of 25Here is another guy who is hated in fantasy football circles. Chris Johnson slipped down some draft boards because he was holding out, but he was still a very high pick.
CJ has shown some flashes of that potential that got him the big new contract, but overall the 2011 season has been a huge disappointment.
Jay Cutler
4 of 25Jay Cutler just looks like a dude who you would not want to hang out with. He always has that look on his face like he is disgusted by something. It also looks like he is throwing a fit every time one of his receivers does not do what he was supposed to do.
This has been a rough season for Cutler because of a thumb injury, but even when he was healthy he was not living up to the price the Bears paid to Denver for him.
Philip Rivers
5 of 25Philip Rivers has been a turnover machine this season. A lot of people were expecting Rivers to have the best season of his career this year, but it has turned out to be one of his worst.
His poor play on the field is nothing compared to his demeanor on the field. He, like Cutler, just has that look of a guy who thinks he is too good for everything and everyone around him.
Mark Sanchez
6 of 25The reason people hate Mark Sanchez is because the media leads people to think that he is actually a good quarterback. The truth is he would be viewed as a very mediocre quarterback if he did not have the running game and defense that he does with the Jets. He is living off them.
One of these days he will not have that supporting cast. Then everyone will know the truth about "The Sanchize."
Tim Tebow
7 of 25Tim Tebow is the most polarizing player in the NFL today. Some people think he is the new breed of NFL quarterback. Some people think he is setting football back 50 years with his style of play.
There are also some people who hate him because he talks about his religious beliefs all the time.
The jury is going to be out on Tebow until the league has an offseason to prepare for him.
Brian Cushing
8 of 25Brian Cushing cheated his way to the 2009 Defensive Rookie of the Year award. He has not been anywhere close to the player he was before he was busted for performance-enhancing drugs. What other reason do you need to hate him?
Eli Manning
9 of 25The annoying thing about Eli Manning is that he has an inferiority complex. He had to tell people this offseason that he should be considered in the same class as the elite quarterbacks in the league.
Hey, Eli: It probably isn't true if you have to be the one to talk about it. People will start mentioning you with the elite when your play on the field dictates it.
Brandon Marshall
10 of 25Brandon Marshall acted out in Denver until the Broncos were finally forced to trade him. He has been better in Miami, but there is always something that gets him in the news other than his play on the field.
This year it was because he started talking about how he wanted to get kicked out of the game when the Dolphins played the Jets. It seems like sometimes he is just desperate for that attention.
Bart Scott
11 of 25Bart Scott is one annoying fellow. It seems like he just lives to shoot off his mouth.
He has been a little more quiet this season than normal because the Jets defense has not been as good as people expected it to be. You have to at least respect that a little.
Jeremy Shockey
12 of 25Jeremy Shockey is just an annoying personality. He wore out his welcome in New Orleans because he was not much of a team player.
He also has not lived up to the potential that people saw in him when he was coming out of college. He has had a few good seasons, but he has not been the game-changer he was drafted to be.
Carson Palmer
13 of 25The way that Carson Palmer went about trying to get traded from the Bengals was annoying. If he was that unhappy there, he should have never signed a long-term contract.
Pretty soon Raiders fans are going to start to hate him because he is not very good and he cost their team a lot of draft picks.
Michael Vick
14 of 25The problems with Michael Vick are well chronicled. Some people will never forgive him for the dog-fighting ring that he participated in.
This year a lot of fantasy football players hate him because he has not lived up to where he was picked in most drafts. A lot of that is because of injuries, but he has struggled some even when healthy.
DeSean Jackson
15 of 25DeSean Jackson has not done himself any favors this season in his quest for a new contract. He has been benched in a couple of games because of lack of effort. That probably is not the best way to go about trying to get a new contract.
The other problem for Jackson in his contract battle is that he has not made the same explosive plays he did last season. No team is going to pay him a bunch of money if it thinks he has lost that ability.
Hines Ward
16 of 25Hines Ward has been relegated to a backup role this season because his skills have diminished, but there was a day where he was one of the dirtiest players in the league. The only reason he is not on that list right now is because he is not actually playing.
Ward has really put together a great career. Most people will remember how good of a blocking receiver he was, but there will also be people who only remember the dirty plays he made.
Cortland Finnegan
17 of 25Cortland Finnegan has softened his play a little bit this season, but his play from last year is enough to make a lot of people hate him. He was quoted as saying that he wanted to be voted the dirtiest player in the league.
Most people do not know much about Finnegan other than the fact that he gets fined a lot for illegal play, and everyone remembers the fight he got in with Andre Johnson last season.
Tony Romo
18 of 25Tony Romo is a rare case. His own fanbase might hate him more than fans of the other 31 teams do.
Romo is doing what Romo does again this year. He is putting up big numbers, but he just cannot seem to come up big in clutch time. That is what defines an elite quarterback, and Romo is not that right now, even though the media would lead you to believe he is.
Ray Lewis
19 of 25It still does not make any sense how a man who interfered with the prosecution of a murder can be called God's linebacker, but that is the case with Ray Lewis.
His career is probably coming to an end in the near future. That is sad because he was once a great player, but now he just says nonsense and jumps on piles.
Peyton Manning
20 of 25The hatred for Peyton Manning has been dialed back a little bit this season because he is not on the field. That keeps people from having to watch all of the infuriating mess that he does before the snap on every single play.
It also keeps people from having to watch him have a five-minute discussion with the referee between plays to explain why there should have been a penalty called on the other team.
Ben Roethlisberger
21 of 25Ben Roethlisberger has rebuilt his image a little bit, but it was not that long ago that he was hated by pretty much everyone. He was having a lot of off-field problems, and his teammates did not like the way he conducted himself in the locker room.
The city of Pittsburgh has already forgiven him, but the rest of the fans in the NFL are not as blinded just because he is playing well on the field.
Tom Brady
22 of 25Every non-Patriots fan hates Tom Brady. You have to admit that he is one of the best quarterbacks in the game today, but watching him when he doesn't have his helmet on makes you hate him. He is either over on the sideline yelling at one of his coaches or out wearing UGGs.
There is also the fact that referees will throw a flag if a defensive player looks at him wrong. Most of the rules that are in place now to protect the quarterback are because of Brady.
Adam "Pacman" Jones
23 of 25You just cannot cheer for Adam Jones. First of all, he is not a very good cornerback. He cost the Bengals the game this past week with a pass-interference penalty late in the fourth quarter.
Then there is all the stuff off the field. He has been involved in so many incidents that it is impossible to keep count. The most high-profile of all the events was the shooting in Las Vegas that left a man paralyzed.
Vince Young
24 of 25Vince Young is just really easy to hate. He was a big baby while in Tennessee. He whined all the time that Jeff Fisher did not want him and pitched a fit when things went badly.
Then he went to Philadelphia and cursed the season when he called the Eagles a "Dream Team." When he got his chance to play for the Eagles, all he did was throw interceptions and lose games.
VY better hope Andy Reid keeps his job in Philadelphia because he might be the only coach left willing to give Vince a chance.
James Harrison
25 of 25James Harrison just cannot get his act together. He keeps getting in trouble for illegal hits on the field. His most recent shot on Colt McCoy is going to cost him a game. That means that any incident he has going forward will hurt his team as well as his wallet.
Harrison also does not know how to keep his mouth shut off the field. He did an interview this offseason where he ripped his teammates and the commissioner. A couple of years ago he whined about how he might have to retire because he did not know how to play football without being dirty.
