10 NBA Players We Would Be Happy to Never See Again
There are the players that receive plenty of love and respect from NBA fans around the world. Then there are the players that for whatever reason you can't stand to hear about or watch in a game.
Many of these players are distractions due to poor judgement that hampered their careers, while others just hurt their team based on overall quality of play.
Like always, feel free to let me know how you feel via comment or even add your own players.
This is a list dedicated to "the other guys."
1. Luke Walton
1 of 10Luke Walton has two championships alongside Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers, but he pretty much rode the pine throughout the whole playoffs both years.
Consider him an example of a "oh hey, remember my dad? Yeah he was pretty good, but I'm not" type of player.
While Walton has never made a huge impact on the court, it's crazy to think that he actually had a stalker at one point in his career.
Who stalks Luke Walton? Seriously...
2. Chris Andersen
2 of 10Chris Andersen looks like a guy who should be at a Grateful Dead tribute concert. Throw in the fact that he was once banned for a whole season for "drug abuse" and it only adds to the merit.
As a player, Andersen is quite the athlete, with the ability to rise above other players to swat shots and finish at the rim. The high point (no pun intended) in his career was in the 2008-09 season where Andersen averaged an impressive 2.5 blocks a game, second amongst NBA players.
As good an athlete as Andersen is, he made a complete fool of himself by failing multiple times trying to complete one dunk during the Slam Dunk Contest in 2005.
Andersen has made the most out of his second chance with the NBA, but sometimes I wish he would just get a giant camouflage tattoo and disappear.
3. Drew Gooden
3 of 10There is pretty much a 30 percent chance that Drew Gooden has played for your favorite NBA franchise. That's right, Gooden has played for nine different teams in his nine-year career.
I've always felt that Gooden could be a very solid player if he could get comfortable with a team for more than a year, but he hasn't had that chance since his stint with Cleveland.
The most frustrating thing about his play has to be his shot selection. Gooden has a bit of range which makes him someone to watch, but he simply cannot pass the ball whenever he gets an opportunity. In fact, Gooden averages more turnovers per game than assists in his career.
Maybe most annoying of all is the "duck tail" haircut that Gooden sported a few years back.
4. Kwame Brown
4 of 10Biggest. Bust. Ever.
When you are chosen by the greatest basketball player in NBA history as the next big thing, you damn sure better live up to it.
Maybe it was Brown's immaturity that hurt his career, but for some reason he never progressed into the star player he was supposed to. Brown has been accused of such things as throwing a cake at a person, rape and being disorderly, but has not had much positive impact on teams to make up for it.
After being somewhat of a headcase for most of his career, Brown will get a new chance with the Golden State Warriors this upcoming season. If he doesn't pan out here, expect this to be possibly the last time he inks an NBA contract.
5. Gilbert Arenas
5 of 10With Arenas recently being waived via amnesty clause by the Orlando Magic, look for another team to pick him up soon. However, let's not be surprised if he becomes an instant distraction.
Early in his career Arenas showed plenty of potential, making three straight All-Star appearances (2005-07) along with averaging at least 25 points a night during the stretch.
Arenas proved to be an asset on the court throughout his career, but it was when he and former teammate Javaris Crittenton pulled guns on each other that he reached a new low.
For a player with so much talent to destroy is career in such a disturbing manner is absurd, but most importantly, don't ever look for his career to bounce back.
6. Anderson Varejao
6 of 10Anderson Varejao is a hard-nosed defender with a knack for being in the right spot at the right time. Known for his huge head of hair, Varejao was one of the best role players for LeBron James in Cleveland.
While that all sounds great, he also has a reputation for being one of the biggest floppers in the NBA. On top of that, Varejao also whines and argues every call made against him and is an extremely dirty player who often throws elbows at opposing players.
Andy won't brutalize you on offense, but expect to leave with a sore body and a few bruises if he is defending you.
7. Kris Humphries
7 of 10Do I even have to explain this one?
Well, considering he was the latest lucky athlete to have a fling with the somehow famous Kim Kardashian, he has been a big story all summer.
After a failed marriage, Kris Humphries must now get back to his basketball career and avoid the negative attention and jokes he will receive from fans.
Humphries has improved his points and rebounds every year he has played in the NBA and looks truly poised to be a valuable contributor, but I guarantee half of the people that know who he is do not know what he does for a profession.
Speaking of, has anyone called dibs on Kim yet?
8. Ricky Rubio
8 of 10Sure he's young, but I just don't understand all of the hype surrounding Ricky Rubio. He seems like a wizard with the ball, yet he most likely has less scoring talent than Ben Wallace.
Maybe I'm being unfair to a player who hasn't even stepped onto an NBA floor, but I'll venture a guess that he will never be a top-20 point guard in the league.
Other point guards are much stronger, faster and harder to defend than the competition Rubio faced overseas, and it seems unlikely that he will ever adjust.
For a player that seemed par in the Spanish ACB League based on stats, it's questionable as to why he is getting so much attention.
I'm hoping the young Rubio proves me wrong, but for now I'm tired of hearing about him.
9. Sebastian Telfair
9 of 10Much like Ricky Rubio, Sebastian Telfair was the spotlight of a ton of media attention for what he could do in the NBA. Well, we have witnessed how that turned out right?
If not for the hype he had coming into the league, Telfair might be considered a solid NBA backup. However, based off expectations, he is a bust.
Telfair has averaged 7.8 points and 3.8 assists over his career, but it's nowhere near what he was capable of producing.
10. Metta World Peace
10 of 10So, Ron Artest wants to make a difference in the world by changing his name to Metta World Peace?
Wait, aren't you the same guy who was responsible for the "Malice in the Palace," one of the biggest NBA brawls of all time?
Let's not forget his admission of drinking alcohol during halftime of games. Maybe that would fly in industrial softball leagues, but there is no appropriate excuse for doing that as a professional athlete.
World Peace also remains one of the dirtiest players to ever put on a uniform as well as a team distraction.
While NBA fans continue to search for the reincarnation of Michael Jordan, it's safe to say that we've found the closest thing to Dennis Rodman in a long, long time.
