Countdown to Christmas: 8 Promotional Item Ideas for Marquette Basketball
With less than 12 days until Christmas, here at Bleacher Report we have formulated a list of things Marquette can do for its fans as this Holiday Season.
The following are a few promotional items that the Golden Eagles could hand out to lucky fans at the Bradley Center.
The items aren't just for the Holiday Season, they work all year long.
Buzz-Ism Mugs
1 of 9These mugs actually exist and are on sale online. They're $9.99 and would be a great holiday buy for big fans of the loud head coach.
The mugs have great sayings like, "We want to play like our hair's on fire," and "I'm like a turtle. I remember everything."
These would be great to have in the team store at the Bradley Center or even at a prize giveaway.

Jamail Jones Bobble Head
2 of 9Jamail Jones should not have cut his hair.
At the very beginning of the season, Jones was rocking a retro flat top. It was his way of standing out in the crowd, and it was working.
The look would have been perfect for a bobble head. It takes a lot of skill and care to maintain, or even pull off a flat top, and it worked.
Could Jamail bring it back in time for March so that the power of the flat top graces bobble heads before the season ends?
That's up to him.
Vander Blue Posterizing Dunks
3 of 9Who wouldn't want a poster like that in their room? That was just unreal, and he's not done yet.
Blue has been performing at a high level and dunking whenever he can. SportsCenter's Top 10 Plays should start getting familiar with his name.
Win a Chance to Be Crutches for Chris Otule for a Day
4 of 9When Marquette played Washington at Madison Square Garden, Chris Otule went down hard with an injury after the first few minutes.
The injury's severity and a time line for how long he would be out have not been released yet, but he has been seen on crutches.
Funny thing about the crutches is that they are taller than most people. At 6'11" he doesn't use regular crutches, his crutches are taller than most members of the Women's Soccer team.
Two lucky fans in attendance should get a chance to walk around with Chris Otule for a day and hold him up as crutches. Otule would probably prefer that they are the same height.
"I Be Chillin Doe" T-Shirts by Davante Gardner
5 of 9If you were to follow Davante Gardner on Twitter (@iGetBuckets_54) you would quickly realize that all he does when he is not on the court is "chill." He has made "I be chillin' doe" as his motto and uses it repeatedly on Twitter.
It has caught on amongst fans, so much so that when he asks who will be at an upcoming basketball game, he receives many replies with the saying.
The saying sounds like it belongs on one of the Nike large print t-shirts. Last year's motto was "Grind together, shine together." Could 2011-2012 be "I Be Chillin' Doe"?
Todd Mayo Night = Sunny Delight Giveaway
6 of 9The pricing on stadium food and drink is expensive no matter where you go. For one night only, why can't the Bradley Center crew hand out one free Sunny Delight to the first 5,000 fans?
Why Sunny D? Todd Mayo is looking great in his first few games and is not letting comparisons to his brother OJ get to him.
Sunny Delight is close in taste to orange juice, but not the same. That's what Marquette has with Todd Mayo. Whether Sunny D is better than OJ is up for debate.
Could we have a new nickname for Todd Mayo in the making?
Junior Cadougan Christmas Album
7 of 9How would you like to be serenaded by Junior Cadougan as you sit by a fireplace and just admire the Christmas decorations around your home?Sounds like a dream to me.
Cadougan was runner-up to Coach Buzz Williams at Marquette Madness in a karaoke contest, but still feels that Williams cheated by getting the crowd involved to rack up votes.
Putting out a Christmas album or even just a solo album would be a nice way for the starting point guard to rebound.
Jae Crowder Dreadlocks
8 of 9The Boston Red Sox had a promotion a few years back where they gave away wigs that resembled the mop of hair that Pedro Martinez had. And when Manny Ramirez went to the Dodgers, dreadlocks were on sale at Dodgers Stadium.
How great would it be to have fans at the Bradley Center wearing dreadlocks that look like Jae Crowder's?
He's a fan favorite who will make a huge impact on their run into March Madness, so why not add to the attention that the national spotlight will bring?
Merry Christmas
9 of 9Whether these promotional items happen, let us not forget what Christmas is all about.
Regardless of faith, it is a time to get together and reflect on the year and all that has come along with it. Sure, it is nice to give and receive presents, but never lose your focus.
Happy Holidays and Warm Regards,
