The 5 Best NFL Player Celebrations This Season
The NFL may be cracking down on its celebration rules, but that is not stopping some players from getting creative this year with some downright funny celebrations.
I'm all for good sportsmanship, but a good touchdown dance is always good for a chuckle. At the end of the day, the players are there to entertain, so let them entertain.
Let's see if any of this year's dances top Drew Stanford's "Dougie" from last year.
Aldon Smith's "Anti-Celebration"
1 of 5Aldon Smith has exploded onto the scene as a rookie this year and has become one of the better pass rushers in the league.
And when a rookie gets a big sack, he's supposed to be really proud of himself and show off, right?
Well, Aldon has a different approach to letting his accomplishments be known. Rather than doing an actual dance, Smith, sprints to the sideline and immediately takes a seat on the bench. You have to appreciate his originality.
Steven Tulloch "Tebows" Tim Tebow
2 of 5In an absolute drubbing of the Broncos that was so bad that Denver adopted a college offense the following week, Steven Tulloch decided to take part in a craze that was sweeping the nation: "Tebowing."
In maybe the most epic "Tebow" ever, after notching a sack Tulloch performed his ritual right in front of the man himself.
There was some controversy afterwards, as some took it as if Tulloch was making fun of Tebow's religion. Tulloch apologized, but he did walk away from this game with a win and full custody of the most epic "Tebowing" moment of all time.
Nate Burleson Zips Up Superman
3 of 5What made this celebration so great is how effective and clean it was at the same time. After catching a long touchdown pass, Burleson zips his implied Superman outfit, taking a direct shot at Cam Newton's dance, in which he pretends to be Superman and unzips his "coat."
Newton, who is having a spectacular season by rookie standards, was humbled by a savvy veteran, and not just on the field. Burleson showed he was one step above Newton in celebration creativity.
Maurice Jones-Drew Takes a Cheap Shot at Cleveland
4 of 5This was a bit of a low-blow, but it was nonetheless hilarious for all citizens not living in Cleveland. What made it work was how smooth MJD was in his delivery; it looks like his usual celebration, in which he kisses his hand and waves to the crowd.
But MJD added a little clever twist and ended up with a good jab at Clevelanders.
Tony Scheffler Swordfights
5 of 5You can tell Tony Scheffler spends a considerable amount of time on his touchdown dances. Literally, every time he scores, he pulls out a new dance from the playbook. Some of them are incredibly lame and drawn out, but this one is my favorite of his all year.
After scoring against the Bucs, Scheffler pulls out his imaginary sword and has impressive "pirate" posture in a dance that is short, sweet and to the point.
