NFL Week 14 Predictions: Projecting Teams Ready to Dominate

Chris TrapassoDec 9, 2011

Parity is at an all-time high in the NFL, so there's rarely a ton of blowouts each week.

In Week 14, however, I envision a few teams utterly dominating their opponent.

New England Patriots over Washington Redskins

The Redskins should be able to move the football with relative ease against the Patriots' secondary, but there is no way they're keeping up with Tom Brady and Co.

New England's offense is operating more efficiently now than it has all season, with Wes Welker destroying defenses underneath and Rob Gronkowski doing damage down the seam and in the red zone.

Don't be surprised to see a respectable game against Washington's run defense that surrenders 116 yards on the ground per game.

Even if Grossman gets off to a decent start, Bill Belichick will make halftime adjustments that will confuse the Redskins' quarterback and force him into some hurried decisions that will result in critical turnovers.

Detroit Lions over Minnesota Vikings

The Lions are an extremely frustrated team for many reasons. First, they've lost five of their last seven. That has led to a great deal of immaturity being displayed on the field over the last few weeks, as they've been flagged 11 times in each of their last two contests.

The Vikings secondary is one of the worst in the league and is the latest victim of Tim Tebow. You think Detroit is ready to take out some of their anger on their 2-10 division rival?

I do.

Expect a ton of shots down the field to Calvin Johnson in the Lions' rout.

San Francisco 49ers over Arizona Cardinals

Patrick Willis won't play for the 49ers, but they still boast one of the league's most fearsome defenses.

I don't have much faith in Kevin Kolb shredding through San Fran's underrated secondary, and the last time Beanie Wells ran against this defense, he totaled 33 yards on eight carries.

Frank Gore should once again be focal point of the 49ers' offensive plan, especially against an Arizona defense that allows 120 yards on the ground per game.

Simply too much aggressiveness and talent on San Fran for the Cardinals to handle.
