2012 NFL Mock Draft: Landing Places for the Class' Top Playmakers
Every NFL draft features a ton of talent, but it's always the playmakers that excite fans the most.
These are impact guys who will make a big difference for whatever NFL team picks them.
Sure, the lineman, hard-hitting linebackers and talented defensive backs are very important to have success, but the offensive studs are really what get fans jacked up.
The 2012 NFL draft has several athletes that will be effective rookies, especially the playmakers.
With that said, here's where some of the top guys will land in the upcoming draft.
Andrew Luck, Indianapolis Colts
1 of 7This should come as no surprise to anyone. The best quarterback in the draft, Andrew Luck, has long been projected as the No. 1 overall pick.
The Colts are very likely to go 0-16, and it would be wise for them to draft Luck. Sure, they have Peyton Manning, but nobody knows the current state of his health or how long he has left to play.
Luck is a game-changer, and his knowledge of football, paired with his mental toughness and great arm, makes him a lock for the top pick.
Justin Blackmon, St. Louis Rams
2 of 7Blackmon just won the Fred Biletnikoff Award for the second year in a row, and he has announced that he plans to enter the NFL draft.
The Rams are in dire need for a playmaker, and Blackmon will definitely help Sam Bradford out. At 2-10, the Rams are destined for a top pick, and they're going to pick a talented wide receiver.
Blackmon gives St. Louis a deep threat, which will allow the Rams' offense to thrive.
Matt Barkley, Miami Dolphins
3 of 7The Miami Dolphins are making some progress with Matt Moore as their quarterback, but he's not the future.
Matt Barkely of the USC Trojans is the next best QB in the draft behind Luck, and the Dolphins would love to have him.
It's uncertain as to whether or not he'd start right away, but Barkley would definitely get a shot in his rookie season. Having Brandon Marshall and Reggie Bush to work with will greatly help the young QB.
Alshon Jeffery, Jacksonville Jaguars
4 of 7It's been a down year for Jeffery, but that's mainly due to the fact the South Carolina Gamecocks had quarterback issues.
There's no denying Jeffery's ability to make plays, and since the Jaguars have virtually nobody to help Blaine Gabbert, they have to take a receiver to help him out.
At 6'4", 229 pounds, Jeffery is a beast on the field, and his stock will climb once scouts see his freakish ability in pre-draft workouts.
Trent Richardson, Cleveland Browns
5 of 7There's a strong chance Richardson wins the Heisman Trophy and the BCS National Championship, which means it's hard to see him returning.
Projected as the top overall running back in the 2012 class (should he leave early), Richardson is a lock for a top-10 pick.
The Browns are having serious issues with Peyton Hillis, and bringing in a rookie that will work very hard to showcase his talents immediately is a bright move. The running back position has been a big problem for Cleveland for a few years, which is why they'd be very smart to draft the nation's top running back.
Robert Griffin III, Washington Redskins
6 of 7He's only a junior, but at the College Football Award ceremony last night, upon winning the Davey O'Brien Award, given to the nation's top quarterback, he hinted at possibly leaving.
Of course, RGIII will likely make his decision after the bowl game, and should he play lights out like expected, he'll project to a first-round draft pick.
The Redskins have no leader at quarterback, and if you've watched RGIII play this season, you know that he is a clutch QB that excels in high-pressure moments.
Washington isn't going to get anywhere with Rex Grossman or John Beck, so taking RGIII is the most logical decision.
