Week 13 Start 'Em, Sit 'Em: 6 TD Machines You Must Start
It's lucky Week 13 of the 2011 NFL season, and this weekend's action brings with it the conclusion of the regular season in many fantasy football leagues, turning this week into a one-game-win-and-you're-in-the-playoffs, lose-and-go-home proposition for many fantasy owners.
With that in mind, here's a look at half a dozen players who have the sort of favorable matchup that greatly increases their chances of finding the end zone this week, making them the sort of fantasy asset that can get a team over the proverbial hump and into fantasy football's second season.
1. Tim Tebow: QB, Denver Broncos (at MIN)
1 of 6Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow certainly isn't racking up many style points as he's doing it, but it's hard to argue with the results the second-year pro has generated, guiding the Broncos to four straight victories and into the thick of the AFC West race.
Tebow has a very good shot at not only continuing to put up solid fantasy numbers, but also actually having a decent afternoon throwing the ball this week when Denver faces the Minnesota Vikings, who have surrendered the most fantasy points per game to opposing quarterbacks this season.
2. BenJarvus Green-Ellis: RB, New England Patriots
2 of 6Running back BenJarvus Green-Ellis has had an up-and-down fourth season in the National Football League, and while he managed only 44 yards on 14 carries in last week's win over the Philadelphia Eagles, "Law Firm" also found the end zone twice.
Green-Ellis should make it two games in a row with a touchdown this week, in a contest with the winless Indianapolis Colts that the Patriots should win easily, as the Colts have given up the third most fantasy points per game to opposing ball-carriers this year.
3. Shonn Greene: RB, New York Jets (at WAS)
3 of 6It's been a fairly quiet season for New York Jets running back Shonn Greene, but the former Iowa standout had one of his better games of the season in last week's victory over the reeling Buffalo Bills, averaging a season-high six yards per carry.
Greene should be able to build on that performance this week when the Jets travel to the nation's capital to face the Washington Redskins, who are a favorable fantasy matchup, ranking a mediocre 18th in the NFL against the run this year.
4. Eric Decker: WR, Denver Broncos (at MIN)
4 of 6No one is going to confuse the Denver Broncos offense with the Greatest Show on Turf any time soon, but that hasn't stopped wide receiver Eric Decker from posting good fantasy numbers, with touchdown receptions in four of his past five games.
Tim Tebow's favorite target should make it five out of six this week when the Broncos face a Minnesota Vikings secondary that has been torched with regularity, allowing the second-most fantasy points per game to opposing wideouts.
5. Jordy Nelson: WR, Green Bay Packers (at NYG)
5 of 6The Green Bay Packers are the talk of the National Football League as they chase a 16-0 regular season, thanks in large part to the stellar play of fourth-year wideout Jordy Nelson, who has hauled in 44 catches for 782 yards and nine scores so far this year.
Nelson should rebound from a down game last week and notch his 10th touchdown of the season when the Packers face the New York Giants on Sunday, who have been the eighth-friendliest fantasy matchup for opposing wide receivers in 2011.
6. Scott Chandler: TE, Buffalo Bills (vs. TEN)
6 of 6It's been a feast or famine season for Buffalo Bills tight end Scott Chandler, as the third-year veteran has had five or more catches in only three contests this season but leads the Bills with six touchdown receptions.
Chandler could well find the end zone for seventh time this year and first time since Week 8 when the Bills face the Tennessee Titans this week, as the Titans have surrendered the sixth-most fantasy points per game to opposing tight ends.
