NBA Free Agents 2011: Samuel Dalembert Destinations
The Sacramento Kings appear to be moving on without starting center Samuel Dalembert.
In a thin market for free agents, Sacramento Kings center Samuel Dalembert may find himself in high demand.
Once Tyson Chandler, Nene, and Marc Gasol get signed or re-signed, teams with holes in the middle will be looking to the Haiti native to anchor their defense.
In Sacramento Dalembert was a defensive anchor that set the tone and protected the rim. He also was nonexistent on offense. This could be a skill set that fits in well with many teams.
Here are some possible landing spots for Samuel Dalembert.
Miami Heat
1 of 5Miami is a natural fit for Dalembert. They have a major need at center. They will have a mid-level exception available to use to make an upgrade on defense. Best for Dalembert, it would move him as close as possible to his home land of Haiti.
Orlando Magic
2 of 5Orlando is another spot that makes a lot of sense for Dalembert. In Orlando, he would serve as a backup to Dwight Howard and provide a major defensive upgrade to their roster. Like Miami, there is also a geographic advantage for him here.
Houston Rockets
3 of 5Atlanta Hawks
4 of 5Atlanta is another team that makes sense for Dalembert. The Hawks could move to get Al Horford more minutes at his more natural power forward position by bringing in a legitimate center to play next to him. This is another team loaded on offense that might be looking for more balance.
New York Knicks
5 of 5The New York Knicks may be in the market for defensive difference makers. Another big man would help them take pressure off of Amare Stoudamire. Dalembert would likely have to take less money to go to New York. Could the chance to play alongside Amare and Melo be enough to get Dalembert to do that?
