NBA Free Agents 2011: Best Centers and Which Teams They May Sign with
This season’s free agent class doesn’t quite resemble that of a season ago, nor will it resemble the upcoming class of 2012, but there are some intriguing options on the market that can help some teams this season.
The center position is one to keep an eye on, as several quality big guys will be at the top of several contending teams' wish lists.
Here’s a look at the top four big guys on the market and where they may eventually land.
Tyson Chandler
He had a resurgence last season in Dallas and will be looking to cash in. The Mavericks need to do whatever it takes to keep him in a Dallas uniform.
Expect Golden State to make a big push for everyone on this list as Rusty Simmons of the San Francisco Chronicle details, but in the end, expect Mark Cuban to find a way to keep Chandler.
Projected Destination: Dallas
Marc Gasol
Gasol could be the classic case of a free agent big man receiving way too much money the first time he hits the market.
While teams such as the New York Knicks appear very interested in the restricted free agent as Newsday reports, he means a lot to the current Memphis team and I would expect them to match any offer he receives.
Projected Destination: Memphis
Samuel Dalembert
The big man is being courted by the Miami Heat, who could sign him for their mid-level exception, but he would be just as good a fit in New York, where he would have a bigger role.
Projected Destination: New York
Nene Hilario
Nene may be the most coveted of the free-agent big men and several teams will line up for his services, including New Jersey, Houston, Indiana and Golden State. Miami and New York could also be players here, but Hilario is looking to cash in on a big pay day.
Keep an eye on the Nets here. They failed to land a big name last year and could be willing to overpay for Hilario.
Projected Destination: New Jersey
