The Whole Effein' Show: Tis' The Season, Right??
The Whole Effein' Show is going to start with a story this week.
I walk into a gas station this week and I'm all about the holiday season, but this is something that has driven me to the brink of wondering what goes through peoples' minds. I am a non-practicing Catholic, so I celebrate Christmas. I said Merry Christmas to someone that was working there and they responded with, “I don't celebrate Christmas, you jerk.”
Then I turn back after replaying our entire interaction with him to see if that was a necessary response. Determined he was out of line and I'm like, “What did you say?”
He said, “I called you a jerk for saying Merry Christmas to me.”
I'm like that is the most popular holiday participated in America. It happens to be what I celebrate, as well. It is not that big of a deal to say it right back to me even if it's not the holiday you celebrate.
Where are peoples' manners these days? If you're one of these guys who reads this article, you're not that person who's head and shoulders above everyone else, and neither am I. Go ruin someone else's holiday, better yet—shut your mouth if you don't have anything good to say.
Onto brighter subjects—the Wolves are terrible.
Rashad McCants in the starting lineup has been a complete disaster. Mike Miller is not playing to his full ability. He needs to light someone on fire if they continue to neglect his ability on the offensive end of the court.
Why is Craig Smith starting, still? He's shown nothing even with increased opportunities and minutes. Make a move, or allow the team to gel into something consistent! Stop flip-flopping; it's out of control.
With the mounting failures of payment to players' contracts overseas; there are vast amounts of players available for free agency. Jannero Pargo would be someone good for the Wolves to look at as a consistent scoring punch from either guard position.
Another coach got fired this week, this time out of Philadelphia. Maurice Cheeks was let go after starting the season 9-14. With Elton Brand injured for one month of the season, due to a brutal collision and subsequent fall against the Milwaukee Bucks, you have to wonder if the team starts playing better. Going to more of last year’s rotation will prompt the Sixers to see if there are any takers for Elton Brand on the open market.
Everyone needs to stop bashing Kevin Garnett and the rest of the Boston Celtics for their attitudes and seemingly endless jawing to opposing players and coaches. This isn't any different than what The Big Ticket stirred around in Minnesota, it's just getting more PR. Anyone has a problem with it is clearly jealous and wishes they had half the desire he has or instills into his own team.
Next week I will talk about All-Star rosters and how the league is adapting to increasingly fatal attendance numbers. Until then, Merry Christmas and be safe.
