Adrian Peterson, Ray Lewis and 14 NFL Players We Hate To See Miss a Single Snap

David LevinNov 22, 2011

They are the reason we plunk down our dollars for great seats. They are the reason we play fantasy football and buy their game jersey and hope upon hope they play each week.

These stars are "Grade A" and need no introduction. Some are known only by their first name like Peyton or Drew or Tom—others by a nickname like "Mojo D" or something obscure.

We hate it when they don't play and can't get enough of the fact they are not on the field every second of the game.

These are some of the players we hate to see off the field due to injury, time of possession or the fact they just need a breather.

Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers

1 of 16

He has done more than make fans forget about some guy named Brett Favre.

Aaron Rodgers does it all and looks so seamless doing it.

He could go down as the best Green Bay Packer to ever play the game.

Larry Fitzgerald, Arizona Cardinals

2 of 16

Larry Fitzgerald is a great receiver and a joy to watch.

He needs a better quarterback to get him the ball, and things may be better in Arizona.

Fitzgerald just inked an intention to his contract, so Cardinals fans will get to see him make plays for them for a few more years.

Michael Vick, Philadelphia Eagles

3 of 16

He did more last year to erase doubts about his play and his personality.

Michael Vick was a one-man wrecking crew. He could pass, run, move the ball and lead his team to the playoffs.

Vick this year has been hurt by injuries and has proven his true worth to the team when he could not perform on the same high level.

Cam Newton, Carolina Panthers

4 of 16

Even as a rookie, Cam Newton has proven to be a great leader and someone who can make plays every time he gets the ball in his hands.

While the Carolina Panthers' record is not that great, Newton makes the offense exciting.

Ray Lewis, Baltimore Ravens

5 of 16

He is still money.

A game-changer on defense, Ray Lewis still strikes fear in runners and receivers.

Who thought that after all these years he would be better older than he was younger?

Frank Gore, San Francisco 49ers

6 of 16

He is so underrated as a runner.

He is a main reason for the success on offense for this year's San Francisco 49ers.

Frank Gore has become a valuable commodity and fights for extra yards on a weekly basis.

When he is out of the lineup, the 49ers lose part of their firepower.

Peyton Manning, Indianapolis Colts

7 of 16

Everyone in Indiana is waiting for his return.

Peyton Manning is the glue that holds this team together. That is more evident this season.

Manning's effect on the team is felt tenfold.

A true titan of his team.

Troy Polamalu, Pittsburgh Steelers

8 of 16

No one means more to their secondary then Troy Polamalu.

He plays harder than anyone and rarely comes out of the game.

And if that does not impress you, then of course the hair does.

Andre Johnson, Houston Texans

9 of 16

Andre Johnson is one of the great receivers in the game. He has a decent passer that makes sure he gets enough touches and he can use his speed to stretch the field at any moment.

Johnson will be one of the best in the game for the next five to eight years.

Maurice Jones-Drew, Jacksonville Jaguars

10 of 16

When the Jacksonville Jaguars drafted him, they had a great change-of-pace back to complement Fred Taylor and a great kick returner.

Now, they have one of the best backs in the NFL.

At only 5'7" and 205 pounds, it is like moving a bowling ball through a line of gladiators.

Devin Hester, Chicago Bears

11 of 16

I never liked special teams play until I saw Devin Hester at the Super Bowl.

The first play of the game and I was hooked.

Hester is the best return man to ever play in the NFL and he as close to a true weapon as the Bears have in their arsenal.

Tim Tebow, Denver Broncos

12 of 16

He is so popular with the fans, how could he not make this list?

Tim Tebow may not be the best at what he does, but he wins and that is all that matters.

Whatever he is doing is working and the fans continue to wait on his every move.

Tom Brady, New England Patriots

13 of 16

Tom Brady lit the world on fire the first few weeks this season and then he cooled. Still, he is the best option for the Patriots and their offense.

Brady could break all the records again this season. He is better with age and keeps the Patriots in the hunt for the Super Bowl each year.

Adrian Peterson, Minnesota Vikings

14 of 16

He is the best runner in the game today.

When he is the ballgame, the speed changes just a bit and defensive linemen try just a little harder to tackle him.

Peterson has great speed and power in his running game. He plays a game within a game with the opposition.

Drew Brees, New Orleans Saints

15 of 16

Every time he touches the ball, he is a threat to throw a touchdown.

Brees has a great arm, reads defenses better than most and can hit the target from 70 yards out.

Brees is the jackpot for the Saints and having him on the sidelines just doesn't do them any good.

Calvin Johnson, Detroit Lions

16 of 16

Megatron is excitement in a bottle.

He can catch the ball anywhere on the field and stretches defenses to the point that they snap.

The fact Matthew Stafford is growing into as good a passer as he is helps Johnson make the leap toward superstardom.
