NFL Picks Week 10: Teams Sure to Score Upsets on the Road
The road is never an easy place to win in the NFL, but in order to succeed, one must overcome the unfamiliar environment.
Including the New England Patriots at the New York Jets, Week 10 of the NFL season presents us with a lot of teams on the road considered to be favorites week in and week out. So, we potentially can see many teams upset this week at home.
While home field advantage is a major factor for a team going into a game, it's no reason to guarantee any team a win.
These teams have a chance to upset the home crowd, adding a win to their team's record.
Pittsburgh Steelers at the Cincinnati Bengals
1 of 5With both the Pittsburgh Steelers (6-3) and the Cincinnati Bengals (6-2) sitting at similar spots this season, the Bengals may finally be exposed this weekend.
The Bengals have, without a doubt, been playing great. But they haven't played a defense as tough as the Steelers, and it should factor in when you consider that the Bengals' offense relies on rookies Andy Dalton and A.J. Green.
The Steelers are a team you can't ever count out, and this week they will prove that they are still here to play following their home loss to the Baltimore Ravens in Week 9.
Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger will continue to lead this offense, and while the Bengals have been excellent this season in both the pass and rush defense, the Steelers are unlike any team they have played this season.
Score: Steelers 24, Bengals 17
Baltimore Ravens at the Seattle Seahawks
2 of 5The Baltimore Ravens are sitting pretty at 6-2, and they should have no problem handling the Seattle Seahawks (1-6) at Century Link Field. You can never eliminate the effect of the Seahawks' 12th man, but they likely will not make an impact in this game.
The Ravens are too strong and arguably have one of the best defenses in the league, allowing only 16.3 points per game. That doesn't bode well for a Seahawks squad who is only averaging 15.3 points per game.
It is hard to imagine quarterback Tarvaris Jackson and running back Marshawn Lynch really upsetting this Ravens defense. Instead, it will be the Ravens upsetting the Seahawks' 12th man.
Score: Ravens 27, Seahawks 3
Buffalo Bills at the Dallas Cowboys
3 of 5The Dallas Cowboys (4-4) are just way too inconsistent to even be considered a favorite at home. They are 3-1 on the season at home, but they have yet to beat a team at home that plays on the same level as the Buffalo Bills (5-3).
The Cowboys did play the Detroit Lions at home this season, but they lost that game by four points. In Week 10, expect another close one.
The Bills are just too strong this season, as quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick and running back Fred Jackson have been taking this offense to new heights. They have finally brought a glimpse of hope to the Bills faithful, and don't expect them to drop this one.
Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo will put up a fight, but with a lack of a consistent run game and the loss of Miles Austin, the Cowboys will likely find themselves in trouble.
Score: Bills 17, Cowboys 14
New Orleans Saints at the Atlanta Falcons
4 of 5While the Atlanta Falcons (5-3) are rolling with a three-game win streak, that may finally come to an end with a match up against division rivals the New Orleans Saints (6-3).
This will be the first match up between the two this season, but quarterback Drew Brees has just been too good this year. Also, wide receiver Marques Colston is getting back into things and that just spells trouble for all teams in the NFL.
This game will likely be a battle of the offenses, but in the end the better offense will squeak by. Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan is a warrior, and he will likely expose his new toy Julio Jones, who is coming off of a two touchdown game.
In the end, experience will top potential in this Week 10 matchup.
Score: Saints 30, Falcons 24
New England Patriots at the New York Jets
5 of 5While the New England Patriots (5-3) and coach Bill Belichick have yet to defeat the New York Jets (5-3) on the road during the Rex Ryan era, expect that to finally come to an end in Week 10 of the 2011 NFL season.
For one, the Patriots have lost two games in a row. No way will they drop three, especially with quarterback Tom Brady under center. That just isn't likely from a team who is not only talented this season, but pretty much every season in the past 10 years.
The Jets have been playing great, but they can be stopped, as quarterback Mark Sanchez is beatable. It is going to take every ounce of effort as these teams battle it out on Sunday Night Football, but in the end the Patriots will finally get that win on Ryan's home turf.
Score: Patriots 24, Jets 21
