Fantasy Pro Basketball: Who Would Be on Your NBA Dream Team?

Farris GunningDec 12, 2008

If there was no timetable to seperate the great players of the National Basketball Association, who would be in your perfect fantasy lineup?

There are many players in the NBA that stand out in people's minds. Clutch shooters, power dunkers, defensive kings, and, of course, the passing perfectionists.

Putting together your "Dream Team" can take some time and serious thinking. I've put together what I believe would be the most unstoppable team ever. Obviously there will be a lot of room for conversation due to a ton of great players.

Center—Shaquille O'Neal

Shaq is one of the (arguably the No. 1) strongest players in this position. Shooting may not be great, but his strength is un-matched. He can stop anyone who tries to come into the paint. Shaq has four championships, three with the Lakers and one with the Heat.

Honorable mention: William "Bill" Russell

Power Foward—Tim Duncan

This guy is solid! With his size and ability to nail the bank shot, Tim has dominated teams for a long time. He has four championships and three MVP awards.

Small Forward—Larry Bird

This was the hardest position for me to choose. This position has and has had many great players including Scottie Pippen, LeBron James, Julius Erving, John Havlicek, Chris Mullin, etc. The reason I choose Bird is because there hasn't been a better clutch shooter (any shooter for that matter) with the passing ability and team ethic that he had. Larry Bird has three rings.

Shooting Guard—Michael Jordan (Who Wouldn't?)

Six titles (1991, 1992, 1993, 1996, 1997, 1998). Fourteen-time All-Star, five-time MVP (1988, 1991, 1992, 1996, 1998), six-time Finals MVP, Rookie of the Year (1985), Defensive Player of the Year (1988). "Air Jordan was the most skilled, most athletic, toughest, meanest, most inspirational, and most competitive of all the shooting guards who have ever played the game," according to ESPN. Need I say more?

Honorable mention: Kobe Bryant

Point Guard—Ervin "Magic" Johnson

Magic was a nickname he got by the way he played on the court; he did some magical things. Magic has five rings. He not only could shoot and play defense, his ability to pass was amazing! He could thread a pass and probably the best alley-oop in history. His hook shot was beautiful, also.

Honorable mention: John Stockton

We can only imagine Magic passing to Jordan, Shaq and Duncan power-housing the boards and Larry Bird nailing three-pointers all on the same team. What an amazing thing to watch!
