How Will Divorce from Kim Kardashian Affect Kris Humphries' Future?

With TMZ reporting that Kris Humphries and Kim Kardashian are heading toward divorce less than 100 days into their marriage, most of the focus will be on the reality show star. But how will the breakup affect Humphries?

By dating Kardashian, the NBA player instantly became a household name, and that exposure only increased due to the couple's summer wedding. Prior to that boost in popularity, he was just a little-known power forward bouncing from team to team.

The exposure that came from being with Kardashian is irreplaceable. The 26-year-old Minnesota native could have reached endorsement heights he would have never dreamed of before hooking up with the most famous of the Kardashian clan.

Humphries is due to be a free agent whenever the lockout ends, and he would have found it easier to find a new home if the team knew it could incorporate regular appearances from his now former wife into its marketing campaign.

As amazing as that sounds, that's how big of a star Kardashian has become.

The 6'9'' former first-round pick averaged a double-double for the first time in his career last season, so he'll still find a new team, but it won't be as easy without Kim attached to his hip.

Even though the financial opportunities won't be as plentiful for Humphries, he'll still be well compensated for playing basketball and will no longer need to deal with his entire life being filmed for a reality show.

And, since the marriage ended so quickly, it's hard to imagine there will be much emotional attachment to overcome. He had to understand marrying somebody whose sole purpose is the make headlines wouldn't be the most comfortable life.

In the long run, the divorce might work out better for Humphries. He's freed from the Keeping Up with the Kardashians shackles and can go back to his quiet life in Minnesota. Once the initial paparazzi blitz ends, of course.

At the end of the day, he might not get as rich as was once possible, but there's no reason to feel bad for Kris Humphries. It was always kind of weird he had the same first name as her mom anyway.
