Kim Kardashian Divorce: Why Marriage to Kris Humphries Was Doomed from Start

Who is Kris Humphries again?

A former first round pick in the NBA, Humphries' star rose when he entered into a romantic relationship with socialite Kim Kardashian.

Kardashian, of course, is known for her family's wealth/reality show, a sex tape with C-List celebrity Ray J and her former relationship with NFL running back Reggie Bush.

Now Humphries is getting divorced with Kardashian for what TMZ is saying are "irreconciable differences."

The couple was married for just 72 days. 

Naturally, this situation was doomed from the start.

Humphries and Kardashian simply made an pairing.

According to NBC's Darren Rovell:

There was bound to be trouble when the new wife's name helped generate more money for a TV wedding than Humphries grossed in his entire professional career.

According to the TMZ report, the "differences" they were experiencing had to do with where they wanted to settle down.

Humphries is currently an unrestricted free agent in a locked out NBA.  has spent the first seven years of his career with four different teams: Utah, Toronto, Dallas and New Jersey.

Saying he is well traveled is an understatement.

The 26-year-old (Kardashian is 31-years old) wanted to live in his native Minnesota where he grew up and played one year of college ball.

Kardashian was born in Los Angeles.

I've never been to Minnesota, but I know it's nothing like Los Angeles.

To believe, even for a second, that his now former wife would leave L.A. for Minnesota means Humphries must not be of sound mind.

Then again, he did marry her in the first place which would force anyone to question his sanity.

Either way, this situation was never going to last.

As to where Humphries will play next is anyone's guess. We can almost assuredly say it won't be L.A. though.

All in all, the NBA player was never expected to keep up with the Kardashians even if he changed his name to Kardashian.

Humphries can go back to focusing on his mediocre NBA career and Kardashian can begin thinking of another way to make headlines two months from now.

I doubt you'll be shocked when it has to do with another athlete.
