Shaq NBA Jam Video: Watch Former Center Show off His Shaqtastic Vocabulary
Sometimes, words just get in the way. So, before you go on reading any more of what I have to say, I encourage you to go back and watch that video seven or eight more times.
Now that Shaq's on-court career is over, this is a guy who needs to be a regular color man. He'll work in studio once this season starts—assuming it ever does. But his talents are best served during the game, not just in the pregame, halftime and postgame stuff.
The man's vocabulary knows no bounds.
Actually, before we go too far into Shaq's extensive knowledge of the English language, I have to say that this game looks extremely fun.
Sports games have almost become too realistic. That sounds like a compliment. Most of the time, it is a compliment. But sometimes, the crazy nature of the older games was what was best about them.
But let's take a look at some of these terms.
A Shaqtastic Dunk: When fantastic isn't enough to describe something, it has to be Shaqtastic. How this isn't a word yet is beyond me. Consider this my plea for it to be added.
Shaqqed on Him: I am not sure that I can elaborate too much on this one.
Shaqapulco: Who wouldn't want to live in Shaqapulco? Man, woman, child? There is plenty in Shaqapulco for everyone.
Boom Shaqalacka: Admittedly, not the most original phrase. Still, it works.
In all seriousness, this best shows off what made Shaq so endearing to us for so many years. Yes, he was a great player, but that only earns so much respect and admiration.
From the moment he first stepped into the NBA, Shaq was a larger than life personality. Now, he's showing it off in video games.
This is a personality that can sell anything he wants to sell. Although his playing career is over, you would do well to find a better spokesman for just about anything.
