Jim Irsay's Apology to Colts Fans Does Nothing for Dejected Fan Base
After losing 62-7 to the Saints, Jim Irsay's "sorry" just isn't good enough. Colts fans have been spoiled by Peyton Manning's heroics, so going down 0-7 and suffering through a miserable and still-declining season is only made worse by an owner who doesn't get it.
The Colts have holes all over the field. Manning gave them the opportunity to mask glaring weaknesses, and with him out, their shortcomings are on display for the whole nation to see. Indy's struggles without Manning aren't just to be expected; they're unavoidable.
The fanbase is trying to make the most of the situation. Their playoff hopes are long gone, which has forced many fans to start looking forward to the draft, where they'll likely have a chance to draft the best quarterback prospect since Peyton Manning, Andrew Luck.

That's their hope for the future and their ticket to maintaining excellence, but Irsay's distorted perception of reality makes the losing unbearable for fans.
Take a look at this string of tweets from Irsay. Notice how he does everything wrong every step of the way.
An unobtainable give away for an upset that had no chance of coming about.
A too little, too late apology, providing false hope to some while enraging the rest of the fanbase.
Fortune cookie nonsense that everyone is too tired to decode.
Get off Twitter, Irsay—everyone knows you want to win. The fans see the problems with the team just like you do, and nobody is expecting anything from the Colts this season.
Keep talking about Andrew Luck if you want to relate to your fanbase. It certainly boosts morale more than acting like the Colts have any chance of finishing this season with their heads held high.
