Matt Barnes: Lakers Forward and Gloria Govan of Basketball Wives' LA Break Up

Los Angeles Lakers forward Matt Barnes announced via a statement on Monday that he and Gloria Govan of Basketball Wives: LA had broken up.

I’d like to address the rumors surrounding mine and Gloria’s relationship. We have reached the difficult decision of ending our relationship and will be going our separate ways at this time. We will work together to raise our sons and wish each other only the best.

"

Barnes and Govan had two kids together and were engaged before the breakup.

Of course, the first telling signs that the couple was having issues came via Twitter. A fan suggested Barnes should marry Govan or someone else would. Replied Barnes, "He can have her!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

On Saturday, Govan retweeted a quote from The Notebook of Love: "If someone is dumb enough to walk away, be smart enough to let them go. Your destiny is never tied to anyone who leaves you."

Govan appeared in the first two seasons of Basketball Wives and has been featured in the latest spinoff, Basketball Wives: LA. She was known to get into heated arguments with Shaquille O'Neal's ex-wife Shaunie in Basketball Wives.

But there were no indications in the latest season that there was any trouble between Barnes and Govan and Barnes didn't appear much in the show.

As for Barnes, he's currently waiting out an NBA lockout that some believe could eliminate the entire 2011-2012 season. Sounds like he's going to have plenty of time to figure things out.
