NBA World Tour: Best Possible Lineups for the NBA Lockout USO Tours

Jeff ChaseOct 20, 2011

The NBA Lockout is still going on, and who knows when it is going to end. Since there is no real end in sight, there has been recent talk that superstars like LeBron James, Derrick Rose, Dwayne Wade, Kevin Durant and many others are looking into putting together a world tour.

I think this would be a great idea, and would probably be a lot more entertaining than the NBA All-Star game. It would essentially be a glorified All-Star game, but it would likely be a lot more fun as the players could play around with the lineups from game to game.

These potential lineups could pose some real fun for this event if it truly does end up happening. All these guys may not be doing the tour, but since there has been no formal announcement, this list is just for fun.

The Past MVPs

1 of 8

This would be a fun class to watch for sure. With the recent MVP winners, luckily there are not too many position disputes. The only one would that poses argument is the power forward position. The two winners that it comes down to are Dirk Nowitzki and Kevin Garnett. Two years ago, Garnett would likely be taking this spot, but now a days many would agree that Nowitzki walks away with this one rather easily. Either way, I don't think many teams would want to play these guys.

PG: Derrick Rose

SF: LeBron James

PF: Dirk Nowitzki

C: Tim Duncan

The Future MVPs

2 of 8

Nothing is tougher than deciding a starting lineup of potential future MVPs. The center, shooting guard and small forward position are pretty obvious with Dwight Howard, Dwayne Wade and Kevin Durant. Things would get more difficult though in choosing the point guard and power forward.

The point guard position is most difficult because of the fact that players like Chris Paul, Russell Westbrook and Deron Williams make quite the argument for taking the spot. In the end, Westbrook seems like the best choice due to the unpredictability of Paul and his past injuries.

Power forward is difficult as well with Blake Griffin, LaMarcus Aldridge and Kevin Love. I think Aldridge has a great chance to become a great player in the NBA, but he is just missing that MVP factor that Griffin has.

PG: Russel Westbrook

SG: Dwayne Wade

SF: Kevin Durant

PF: Blake Griffin

C: Dwight Howard

All-American

3 of 8

The All-American team is very similar to the two previous lists, but more similar to a potential Team USA. These five guys are the best at their positions, and their back ups would be great as well. The way that the US annihilates its competition at the Olympics, it would be hard to take on this team.

PG: Derrick Rose

SG: Kobe Bryant

SF: LeBron James

PF: Kevin Durant

C: Dwight Howard

The Internationals

4 of 8

Could this international All-Star team take on the the best of America's talent? I am not sure, but it would definitely be a very intriguing match up. There is no doubting the talent, but many of the great players are starting to get older and it would be tough for them to keep up with guys like Derrick Rose, LeBron James, Kevin Durant and Dwight Howard. Nothing against Kobe, but those other guys are just much more freakishly athletic.

PG. Steve Nash

SG: Manu Ginobli

SF: Andrea Bargnani

PF: Pau Gasol

C: Dirk Nowitzki

The Scorers

5 of 8

This team wouldn't exactly look right with their size, but these are the most prolific scorers in the NBA. I don't know if they would be able to play great defense, but perhaps the athleticism of LeBron James and Kevin Durant would save them on the other side of the floor. Most likely defense won't be a huge highlight of these tours, so seeing an electric offense like this would be entertaining.

PG: Dwayne Wade (25.5 PPG)

SG: Kobe Bryant (25.3 PPG)

SF: Carmelo Anthony (25.6 PPG)

PF: LeBron James (26.7 PPG)

C: Kevin Durant (27.7 PPG)

The Defenders

6 of 8

Perhaps the most dangerous team out there would be the defensive minded team. Not only are these players great defenders, they are also great offensive players. This team could be the most effective team out of all the teams on this list.

PG: Chris Paul (2.35 SPG)

SG: Dwayne Wade (1.5 SPG and 6.4 RPG)

SF: LeBron James (1.57 SPG and 7.5 RPG)

PF: Kevin Love (15.2 RPG)

C: Dwight Howard (14.1 RPG)

Team Slam Dunk

7 of 8

This would be a fun team to watch, and a difficult one to defend. Team slam dunk is comprised of the best players who can get to the rim at will, and these guys are dangerous. This is one team that I don't think a lot would want to play because the entire game would be played above the rim.

PG: Derrick Rose

SG: LeBron James

SF: Kevin Durant

PF: Blake Griffin

C: Dwight Howard

Team Shaq

8 of 8

How could these stars go on tour without the most entertaining guy in the NBA? Even though Shaq recently retired, he deserves to have a team that is built around him and players that should follow him into retirement. In the meantime though, they could play one last time before retirement with the recently retired legend.

PG: Gilbert Arenas

SG: Tracy McGrady

SF: Vince Carter

PF: Kenyon Martin

C: Shaquille ONeal
