NFL Picks Week 7: Carson Palmer and QBs Who Will Let Their Teams Down

Ryan RudnanskyOct 20, 2011

As is the custom in the NFL, the quarterback is always praised or blamed for the wins and losses of his respective team, however unfair that may be.

But sometimes quarterbacks deserve to be scolded for their performances and are the main reason their team lost.

Here are three quarterbacks who will let their teams down in Week 7.

Sorry, Oakland Raiders fans.

3. Carson Palmer, Oakland Raiders

I can understand the buzz that is surrounding new Raiders quarterback Carson Palmer given he used to be a good quarterback.

But Palmer is not only the same quarterback he once was, he's naturally going to be rusty when he takes the field against the rival Kansas City Chiefs.

The Raiders likely won't ask Palmer to throw too much in his first week back, but he is going to be asked to lead them to victory against a Chiefs team that has rebounded after an ugly start to the season. I think Palmer is going underwhelm and the Raiders are going to fall to the Chiefs.

2. Kevin Kolb, Arizona Cardinals

Kevin Kolb got off to a good enough start with his new team this season, but since he has been disappointing, throwing five interceptions to just one touchdown in his last three games.

It doesn't help that Kolb is facing a Pittsburgh Steelers defense in Week 7 that is giving up a league-best 157.7 passing yards per game. Or the fact that the offensive line has had trouble and the Steelers have 15 sacks already.

1. Mark Sanchez, New York Jets

We keep waiting for Mark Sanchez to back up head coach Rex Ryan's words that he's a franchise quarterback.

Sanchez teases fans by having a good game every once in a while, but his last three games have been ugly. Sanchez averaged 162 passing yards in his last three games and he's completed just 56 percent of his passes, which is actually an improvement on his career mark.

Sanchez faces a very strong pass defense against the San Diego Chargers in Week 7, a defense that is allowing just 179.6 passing yards per game. Something tells me Sanchez will struggle.
