Kevin Nash, John Cena, Vengeance 2011 and Today's Top WWE News

Adam WellsOct 19, 2011

With WWE getting set for one of its biggest shows of the year next month, the company seems to be on cruise control heading into Vengeance this Sunday. The show was promoted fine on television, but convoluted stories and weak matches have left this show with no buzz.

Speaking of convoluted stories, TNA keeps making mind boggling decisions. There is a new king of the mountain, who was crowned at last night's Impact tapings. We will have spoilers included, so if you don't want to know, skip around.

We will have all the latest news, notes and information from the wacky world of professional wrestling for you. If you agree or disagree with anything we say, feel free to comment and let us know. For more WWE talk, check out Ring Rust Radio for all of the hot topics you just can’t miss.

1. KEVIN NASH STILL TEASING A MATCH WITH CM PUNK

A match that no one wanted to see two months ago is still being teased. That's right, kiddies, Kevin Nash is still planning on working a match with CM Punk at some point in the near future. It's good for Nash because he no one cares about him, but it's a huge step down for Punk.

Question on Everybody's Mind: Why Does WWE Still Want To Use Nash?

Our Take: The short answer is he is Triple H's best friend. The longer answer is they probably think that he is still a drawing card, not that he ever was when he worked for WWE, and will do a lot to elevate Punk's career. I don't know which is louder, Nash's knees cracking whenever he takes a step, or the sound of televisions being turned off when he is on camera.

Hype Meter: 2-of-10 Walking Sticks

If WWE was going to go through with a Nash-Punk match it should have been in September. Circumstances prevented them from doing it, so the idea should have been dropped altogether. Instead, it sounds like it will happen when he is done filming his next blockbuster movie.

2. (Spoiler Alert) Kurt Angle Drops TNA World Championship

In a baffling decision by TNA management, Kurt Angle dropped the world title in a very short match with James Storm, at the Impact tapings on Tuesday night. We knew Angle was hurt based on the way he looked against Bobby Roode, so the fact that he dropped the belt is not a shock.

Question on Everybody's Mind: Why didn't Roode just pin Angle at Bound For Glory on Sunday?

Our Take: Hulk Hogan has power, and he does not see Roode as a star. So TNA did a 180 and gave Angle the victory on its biggest show of the year. It is a baffling decision when you consider how much time and effort was spent into getting Roode over, but when you let Hogan make decisions bad things happen, Brother.

Hype Meter: 5-out-of-10 Yellow Boas

It is good to see someone new get a shot with the TNA title, but the problem is the wrong guy has the belt. James Storm is fine for what he is. He is not Bobby Roode, though. Everything was built around Roode being The Man for the company, now where does he go?

3. Scott Hall Comes Clean On E:60

Scott Hall's life outside of wrestling has been one filled with great sadness. He has never been able to shake the demons that have plagued him, and now his story will be told on the ESPN show E:60 tonight at 8 p.m. EDT.

Question on Everybody's Mind: Is it too late for Hall to turn his life around?

Our Take: It has been a while since we have heard anything about Hall having a relapse, so you hope that he is on the straight and narrow. We have seen him try to clean up his act before and fall off the wagon, so the hope is that he really is changing his life.

Hype Meter: 10-out-of-10

Hall deserves credit and respect for telling his story on national television. I am not sure what to expect, but I know it will be interesting and, in all likelihood, sad to see.

4. WWE Vengeance 2011 Is Allegedly This Sunday

To say that WWE's pay-per-view business has been bad is an understatement. Things don't look good because the company only focuses on the major shows of the year, and smaller shows, like Vengeance, get the short end of the stick.

Question on Everybody's Mind: Will we see anything shocking to build to Survivor Series?

Our Take: While there likely won't be anything as dramatic as The Rock running in and costing John Cena the WWE title, I wouldn't be surprised to see someone like Mick Foley or The Undertaker, who are likely to return soon, make their presence felt in some way.

Hype Meter: 7-out-of-10

Even though the show doesn't have a lot of momentum behind it, there are some matches that should be good enough to make it worth seeing. Triple H and CM Punk vs. R-Truth and Miz will be good, even if it shouldn't be happening, and Cody Rhodes vs. Randy Orton is an intriguing mid-card fight that could launch Cody's rise to stardom.

5. John Cena Leaving The WWE Title Picture?

The one thing that many hardcore WWE fans have complained about is John Cena being in championship matches every month. It is boring, stale and has done more harm than good to the product and his character. With Survivor Series and The Rock looming, Vengeance will be his final title shot for a long time.

Question on Everybody's Mind: How long can WWE keep "Super Cena" out of the title picture?

Our Take: WWE does not have long-term plans, and the plans they do have change minute-to-minute, so the idea that Cena will be out of the title picture for longer than one month is questionable. It would be good for him to stay away from the championship until after WrestleMania, but I have doubts this company can keep the title off him for that long.

Hype Meter: 10-out-of-10 "U Can't See Me" T-Shirts

To get other people into the main event mix would be a major plus for WWE. Part of the problem right now is that the same guys are always on top, and no one else gets over. So, the idea that other people will share the championship spotlight for awhile is a big plus.
