Cleveland Cavaliers Push Win Streak To Seven

Johnny RussoDec 6, 2008
Last night's win over the Indiana Pacers pushed the Cavs' win streak to seven. The Cavs only led 35-33 in the second, but went on a 17-5 run to close the half. They never looked back from there and ran away with a 97-93 victory.
During this current win streak, the Cavaliers have been beating teams by an average of 22 points and are averaging 110 points per game.
While they have been putting up huge offensive numbers, the mindset of this team still remains on the defensive side of the floor.

"In order to continue to play the way we have been playing, we have to continue to defend," said LeBron James.
They have been holding teams to just 88 points per game and 40 percent shooting during this win streak. Tonight, they held the Pacers to just 73 points on 40 percent shooting and their all-star, Danny Granger, was held to only 4 points on 2-of-7 from the floor.
Granger is currently seventh in the league in scoring and is averaging 23.3 points per game.
"He's the key to their team, and they're not going to be as good as a scoring team if he's not on," said LeBron. "I took it upon myself to lock in on him tonight and let my team on the other end take care of the offense and they did that."
LeBron finished with a season low 11 points, but he dished out 11 assists and grabbed eight rebounds. Other guys were called upon to pick up some of the scoring and they did that.
Zydrunas Ilguaskas, Mo Williams, and Anderson Varejao all had 17 points each. It was surprising to see Andy do so well on the offensive end. He scored all of his points in the first half and 13 of them came in the second quarter.
"Tonight, I don't know how many points he scored in a row, but he was hitting jump shot after jump shot," said head coach Mike Brown.
Delonte West and Daniel Gibson also added 14 apiece.
The Cavaliers will look to extend their win streak to eight tonight, as they travel to Charlotte to take on the Bobcats (7-12).
