NFL Trade Rumors: Will Peyton Hillis Get Carson Palmer Treatment from Browns?
Cleveland Browns running back Peyton Hillis has been trying to get a new contract with the team all season, but thanks to a horrible case of strep throat and a hamstring injury, his on-field production has waned. Now Hillis is in danger of not getting the type of deal he desires and in return may ask for a trade.
The NFL's trade deadline is October 18, which means Hillis and the Browns have very little time to work anything out. Even if Hillis does demand to be traded, there is very little chance the Browns actually honor the request.
Hillis is making a mere $600,000 this season, which is incredibly low for a guy who put up big numbers a year ago. The lack of a long-term contract on the table has Hillis worried about his future. Though he is currently in negotiations for a contract extension with the Browns, apparently talks are not going well, and with the impending trade deadline, Hillis may have asked to be dealt behind the scenes.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
On Sunday against the Oakland Raiders, Hillis suffered a hamstring injury after picking up just 14 yards on six carries. He did return to the field in the fourth quarter on a few passing plays, which means the injury may not be too serious.
On top of all that, the Browns love what backup running back Montario Hardesty brings to the table and may feel that Hillis is replaceable.
So far this season Hillis has just 211 yards and two touchdowns on 60 carries. He also has 15 catches for 76 yards. Those aren't the kind of numbers that would inspire the Browns to invest a ton of dough in him.
That said, even if the Browns don't think Hillis is worth a monster contract extension, the likelihood that they trade the 25-year-old is extremely low. While a trade might be what Hillis wants, he won't get one. Expect him to be in Cleveland past Tuesday's deadline.
