Oakland Raiders: Why the Future Is Bright for Darren McFadden and Raider Nation

Patrick ClarkeOct 16, 2011

The Oakland Raiders organization has been seeking advice from former Raiders coach John Madden, according to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter.

The Raiders are in search of a general manager to take over after the passing of Al Davis last week.

Davis' son, Marc, has been in contact with Madden, as well as Ron Wolf and Ken Herock, according to Schefter, in hopes of getting some recommendation on who the Raiders should hire this offseason.

Schefter's report names Green Bay Packers director of football operations Reggie McKenzie as the potential No. 1 candidate.

As the Raiders on-field success grows, there is no doubt that McKenzie would entertain the idea of transitioning to Oakland to help improve one the league's most historic franchises.

Oakland is 3-2 this season and leads the NFL in rushing behind the stellar play of early-season MVP candidate Darren McFadden, the league's leading rusher.

The Raiders went 6-0 in the AFC West a season ago and seem to be trending upwards given the plethora of young talent on their roster and the superb leadership of first-year head coach Hue Jackson.

With news that management is seeking the advice of NFL greats like Madden, Silver and Black fans everywhere can feel confident that the franchise's future is bright.

After nearly a decade of miserable football one season after another, Raider Nation is headed in the right direction.

As the franchise looks to transition from the guidance of Al Davis into a new era, the on-field brilliance of McFadden and the Raiders will keep Oakland fans distracted.
