NFL Picks Week 6: Carolina Panthers and 5 Underdogs Who Will Pull off Upsets
There were plenty of upsets last Sunday (Seahawks over Giants lost me some money) and I'm expecting quite a few in Week 6 as well. Here are five underdogs you would be wise to bet on tomorrow.
Carolina over Atlanta
I'm officially riding shotgun on the Cam Newton bandwagon, so I'm picking Carolina to beat the erratic Atlanta Falcons.

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
I was skeptical about Newton for a couple weeks, but I am completely convinced that this kid will be great. I don't care how low his completion percentage is or how often his team throws the ball.
When you're a rookie and the only guys who have more passing yards than you are Tom Brady, Drew Brees and Aaron Rodgers, that's damn impressive.
Also, Atlanta's pass defense is terrible.
The Falcons' are allowing 294 passing yards per game, which is 28th in the league. They've also given up nine passing touchdowns through the first five games of the season and they haven't exactly been facing elite quarterbacks.
Tarvaris Jackson (seriously, Tarvaris Jackson) threw for 319 yards and two touchdowns against the Falcons.
I think Cam Newton has got this one.
Washington over Philadelphia
I can't believe I'm actually telling you to bet on a team with Rex Grossman at quarterback, but Washington has looked very good thus far.
Philly has been in an absolute free fall this season and I'm expecting the Redskins to take advantage of the Eagles' low morale.
Washington is somehow 3-1 and it possesses a much more menacing defense than anyone thought coming into this season. The Redskins are currently eighth in passing yards allowed (212) and sixth in rushing yards (84.5) allowed per game.
Michael Vick has been tossed around like a rag doll this season and all those hits are adding up. LaRon Landry will crush him at least a couple times on Sunday.
Look for Washington to stay atop the NFC East standings.
Indianapolis over Cincinnati
Curtis Painter is certainly not the next Peyton Manning, but I like what the kid has done so far.
His completion percentage is predictably awful 48.5 percent, but he has been very careful with the ball, having yet to throw an interception on the season.
The Bengals have been somewhat of a wreck over the last few years (insert DUI joke here) and it would be completely fitting if they gave the 0-5 Colts their first win of the season.
Buffalo over New York Giants
I never thought I would live in a world where I trust Ryan Fitzpatrick more than Eli Manning, but here we are.
The seventh-year man out of Harvard didn't put up big numbers last week against the Eagles, but he was very efficient. He completed 21 of 27 passes for 193 yards and a touchdown (he did have an interception).
Plus, the Giants just got beat by the Tarvaris Jackson/Charlie Whitehurst tandem of Seattle.
I'll take Buffalo.
Dallas over New England
Tony the Creator (because he's a walking paradox) has been Hall-of-Fame-good and Joey Harrington-bad this season, but I think he'll do well coming off a bye week.
The Patriots have been giving up huge passing numbers this season and I think Romo can capitalize.
Or he could throw a few interceptions for touchdowns.
Who knows?
