Fantasy Football Week 6: Quarterbacks (QB) Rankings, Projections

It's time for Tony Romo to step up and play like the true top-five fantasy quarterback he really is, as Miles Austin and Dez Bryant should finally be healthy coming off the bye week.

For all the heat Romo has taken, the guy had two solid fantasy performances in the three weeks he was dealing with his rib problem, and that was without both his top receivers playing together and healthy.

Heading to New England, the Cowboys will have a hard time winning this contest, but we all know that you can throw against New England, and because the Patriots score so many points, the Cowboys will be forced to throw the football throughout.

Heck, even if for some reason the Cowboys get a lead, their running game isn’t built to grind out the clock—that’s part of the reason for Romo’s picks late against the Lions. Expect a big day from Romo as the Cowboys look to get their offense and season back on track with their full complement of weapons to work with.

Eli Manning vs. Bills

One of the least inspiring top-10 fantasy quarterbacks, Eli Manning and the Giants' passing attack may not play clean games, but you can’t deny that this group is putting up numbers.

Both Victor Cruz and Mario Manningham have their share of faults, but Cruz is on fire, and Manningham will help this offense as the season moves along.

Hakeem Nicks is a stud, and tight end Jason Ballard is seemingly coming out of nowhere to be a starting fantasy option weekly. The Giants take on the Bills high-scoring offense in what promises to be a wild game.

Unless you have one of the stud quarterbacks in the league, you need to get Manning in the lineup this week.

Matt Ryan vs. Panthers

A little disappointed in Matt Ryan thus far? You’re not alone—it seemed the Falcons would throw the football more this year, with the addition of ultra-talented rookie Julio Jones in the passing attack and the return of Harry Douglas as a slot receiver.

While it appears the Falcons are throwing the football more, if you watched the Sunday night game against the Packers, it’s clear that this is still close to a dink-and-dunk passing attack.

Maybe the Falcons were hoping to nurse their early 14-point lead, but that’s not the way to finish off a Packers team you had on the ropes at one point.

Instead, the Falcons' tentative offense allowed the Packers defense to disrespect the deep threat, and they could play close to the line of scrimmage to shut down Michael Turner and break up short passing routes.

Eventually, the Packers offensive line solved their passing-protection problems, and Aaron Rodgers went off in the second half. If Ryan owners are going to have a weekly start-worthy quarterback, this team needs to play aggressive from the start of the game until they secure the win.

I still have Ryan as the 10th quarterback this week, even with Julio Jones suffering a hamstring injury, because the Falcons are facing Cam Newton and the Panthers' shaky defense.

Hopefully, we will hear rumblings out of Atlanta that the team plans on playing an aggressive style of offense, but if they talk about getting Turner going, I will dump Ryan down to the 15th-best quarterback in our Friday quarterback re-ranks.
