Tim Tebow: 7 Reasons Tebow Will Save the Denver Broncos' Season

Luis BatlleOct 9, 2011

Quarterback Kyle Orton again looks like he is incapable of leading the Denver Broncos to a winning season, as the team is on their way to a fourth loss in five games.

Perhaps it's time for a change.

In his most recent outing, Orton posted just 34 yards and an interception on 13 passing attempts.Yes, it's a rough story for these Broncos when it comes to finding the answer at the quarterback position.

Tim Tebow is due for a chance, as he had just three starts to his name since being drafted by John Elway and the Denver Broncos. The organization has invested much time and interest in keeping the young talent around, as now may be the right time to give Tebow the nod.

These are the seven reasons why having Tebow start for the Broncos is the answer.

No. 7: Has Played Some Games Already as a Starter

1 of 7

Last season, after quarterback Kyle Orton failed to please the organization with his performance last season, Tim Tebow got the nod for the last three starts of the season.

In those three games played, Tebow posted well over 600 yards, five touchdowns and three interceptions. Most would consider these solid numbers, especially as they came against three solid teams in the Houston Texans, Oakland Raiders and San Diego Chargers.

This experience is important in evaluating whether or not he is ready to take over the starting job.

No. 6: Tebow Has Put the Time in over the Offseason

2 of 7

Since analysts, reporters, scouts and fans of the game have criticized his mechanics, Tim Tebow has put in the work to work on his release and it has certainly improved.

According to ESPN.com, Tebow had put in countless hours into trying to improve his throwing motion and quicken his release of the football. Undoubtedly this must have helped to improve his overall game and readiness as a starting QB in the league.

As writer James Walker makes clear in the above ESPN report, there are still those who of course doubt that the offseason work did much of anything.

No. 5: Elway Believes in the Guy

3 of 7

Former Denver Broncos quarterback and current Executive Vice President John Elway said it himself, he is a Tebow believer.

"I think where we are as an organization, we are going with Tim," Elway said last season in an article with ESPN.com.

Despite not getting the nod yet, Tebow has the approval of one of the greatest QBs to ever grace the game of football, not to mention one of the head figures of the Denver Broncos organization.

No. 4: A Special Work Ethic

4 of 7

There is on doubt that one of the big reasons the Denver Broncos took a chance on the supposed ill-prepared Tim Tebow was his ability to work hard at improving as both a player and a teammate.

As long as he has been known as a player with both the Florida Gators and the Denver Broncos, Tebow has proven he is willing to do what it takes to improve on his technique and help his team win football games.

This is a guy that holds five NCAA records and took his team to two national championships. There is no question Tebow is a guy that works hard and will bring that to the table as the Denver Broncos starting QB.

No. 3: A Sense of Character at the QB Position

5 of 7

Kyle Orton is certainly a producer in the league, but if there's one thing he's certainly not, is a player of strong character. Tebow most certainly is a player that brings with him a sense of character and will to win.

Across the league, whether it's Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady or Peyton Manning, the best of the best at quarterback position are players who have a special sense of character and bring a sense of confidence to the team.

It's quite the cliche type of an argument, yet it is of utmost certainty that Tebow brings this quality to the table and that is a positive reinforcement going forward.

Who doesn't want to play for a guy that shows on a play by play basis that he has arguably the most will of anyone on the field to win a game?

No. 2: A Major Double-Threat

6 of 7

Aside from being a winner, more particularly Tebow is a quarterback known for his ability to both throw the football and make big plays with his feet.

Tebow is as quick and strong a quarterback there is in the league, as his ability to makes plays outside the pocket is certainly a big-time threat to opposing defenses.

This has the potential to open up receivers down-field and possibly even open up more of a running game for the Broncos as well.

No. 1: Above All, Tim Tebow Is a Flat out Winnner

7 of 7

In his days with the Florida Gators, if there is one thing that was universally known about Tim Tebow, it was his ability to win football games.

He would help the Gators to win two national championships in three seasons, winning the 2008 national title as the Gators' starting quarterback. Tebow was also the 2007 Heisman Trophy winner, the top individual honor in all of college football.

Despite going just 1-2 in his three games last season, he showed some positive production and a will to win that was not apparent with Kyle Orton in the lineup.
