NFL Fantasy Football Projections: Matt Ryan and 5 QBs Ready For A Big Day
The quarterback is the most important position on the football field.
In fantasy football, it might not be the most important position, but it is definitely an x-factor.
So, if you have two good quarterbacks on your team, you need to know how to decide between them. If you're facing a good quarterback, you need to hope they throw a couple interceptions. Either way, nothing is ever certain in the NFL.
With that said, I have made a list of five quarterbacks that will have monster days this Sunday. For different, reasons you can be sure that these five will get you the points you need to win (or get your opponents enough to win).
Note: For my projections, I will be using ESPN standard scoring.
Matt Cassel
1 of 5This is a riskier pick, but I think Matt Cassel will have a pretty big day on Sunday.
The Indianapolis Colts have a very good pass rush, but they aren't very good anywhere else. Accordingly, I think Cassel will be able to find Dwayne Bowe all day long.
The Colts secondary usually prevents the deep ball, but they are susceptible to giving up tons of yards. The Kansas City Chiefs don't have much on offense outside of Bowe, so I expect Cassel to be throwing for most of the day.
Projection: 283 Passing yards, 14 Rushing yards, 3 Touchdowns, 1 Interception: 22 points.
Philip Rivers
2 of 5We are moving from one of the riskier picks to one of the safest picks, and we didn't even have to leave the division.
Philip Rivers has been solid this year, except for the turnovers. Once he eliminates the turnovers, he will have himself a monster day.
That day has come.
Did you watch Aaron Rodgers tear apart the Denver Broncos last week? I know Rivers did. As a result, he is going to have a field day. The only thing that might prevent him from having a monster day would be: 1) Too big of a lead too early, or 2) Defensive touchdowns.
If Rivers avoids those issues, he will have the huge day his fantasy owners have been waiting for.
Projection: 363 Passing yards, 11 Rushing yards, 4 Touchdowns: 31 Points.
Aaron Rodgers
3 of 5Speaking of safe picks, here's the safest in the league.
Aaron Rodgers has been out of his mind for four weeks now, and that is going to continue. The Atlanta Falcons can't cover, can't rush (well) and can't tackle.
That sounds like a recipe for the title belt to have a huge day.
At some point, Rodgers is going to have a mediocre week. But, based on how he's played this year, and what he did with the Packers the last time he was in Atlanta, that mediocre week won't happen this week.
Projection: 377 Passing yards, 22 Rushing yards, 4 Touchdowns (1 Rushing): 35 points.
Matt Ryan
4 of 5As good as Aaron Rodgers has been, he can't play defense.
Accordingly, the Green Bay Packers have struggled mightily on the defensive side of the ball, which is great for Matt Ryan.
A lot of people have started to doubt Ryan's ability, but I think they expected too much. He is a solid quarterback, but he hasn't made the leap into 'great' or 'elite' yet. Give him time.
With Roddy White and Julio Jones on the outside, Ryan has plenty of size and speed to throw to. They should be getting open all day, and if Ryan plays well, he could have a monster game to mirror Rodgers.
Projection: 296 Passing yards, 12 Rushing yards, 4 Touchdowns, 1 Interception: 26 Points.
Michael Vick
5 of 5Michael Vick might not want the Eagles to be known as the dream team anymore, but he is on a lot of fantasy football dream teams.
Vick can beat defenses in a lot of ways, and that usually translates to pretty big fantasy days. When he doesn't turn the ball over, he's unstoppable. Even when he does, he has pretty big fantasy days to overshadow that.
He had a very good week last week, and the Buffalo Bills don't play much defense. I'm not sure how the game will turn out, but Vick will surely have a monster day regardless.
Projection: 277 Passing yards, 89 Rushing yards, 4 Touchdowns (1 Rushing), 1 Interception: 35 Points.
