ESPN Body Issue: Hope Solo and 3 Athletes We'd Like to See Again
ESPN the Magazine recently released the 2011 edition of its Body Issue, which shows athletes in nude poses and letting average fans see what athletes at the highest level look like under their uniforms.
This year, the magazine featured U.S. goalkeeper Hope Solo in a variety of poses, including watering a lawn with a garden hose and preparing to run.
This left many people wanting more Hope Solo. So, will ESPN have Solo back again in the 2012 edition?
If they do decide to go that route and have some repeat athletes, here are three we would like to see come back.
1. Hope Solo, GK, U.S. Soccer
Solo took the nation by storm this summer as the U.S. women's soccer team made it all the way to the World Cup final before losing to the underdog Japanese squad.
Despite the loss, women's soccer gained a lot of popularity, as did a couple of star players in Solo and Alex Morgan.
Solo has translated her newfound stardom into an appearance on Dancing with the Stars and this Body Issue appearance. Here's hoping she's still relevant enough next year to get asked to appear in the magazine again.
She might have to win DWTS for that to happen though.
2. Dwight Howard, C, Orlando Magic
Howard is listed at 6'11" and 265 pounds. That's worthy enough for a Body Issue spot on its own.
But when you look at Howard, you see muscles in places you never thought muscles could be. He has the biggest shoulders I've ever seen on anyone and he's more athletic than anyone of his height.
Maybe his giant muscles get in the way when he's trying to shoot free throws, leading to his comically low percentage made.
We need to see his freakishly athletic body again to see if we can pinpoint the problem.
3. Kristi Leskinen, U.S. Skier
Leskinen is simply one of the most attractive athletes on the planet.
This Olympic skier originally appeared in the 2009 issue of the magazine. She needs to be back for the 2012 issue though. Three years without Leskinen would be too long.
Bringing her back would definitely boost sales a little bit.
