Week 5 Fantasy Football Start 'Em, Sit 'Em: Arian Foster and 3 RBs to Shine

Eric BowmanOct 6, 2011

A running back can make or break your fantasy football team, which is why you have to make sure you're starting your best options.

If you pick the wrong guy and he does nothing for you then you're toast. The key to running backs is all about the matchups, and some of the Week 5 games are set up perfectly for guys to have a big day.

Here are three running backs who will crush their competition.

Arian Foster

The Houston Texans top running back returned last week, and he did not disappoint when he owned the Pittsburgh Steelers defense for 155 yards and a touchdown.

Expect another great game from the now healthy Foster, especially since he's playing the Oakland Raiders. Oakland's defense is less than stellar as they rank 29th in the league against the run.

Foster will explode again for another big day on Sunday afternoon. The hamstring injury forced him to miss numerous carries that would have helped him lead the league in rushing again, which is why I expect him to dominate.

Fred Jackson

The Philadelphia Eagles defensive live is terrible against the run, and Jackson will take full advantage of them on Sunday. The Buffalo Bills top rusher has been on fire as of late, and he'll keep it going against the Eagles because he'll be counted on big time at home.

Jackson hasn't had a 100-yard rushing game since Week 2, but he shouldn't have any problem surpassing that amount in Week 5. After all, the Eagles defense is giving up an average of 139 rushing yards per game.

The Bills are coming off a tough loss against the Cincinnati Bengals, who held Jackson to just 66 yards. He'll bounce back strong against the Eagles and put up a lot of fantasy points along the way.

LeSean McCoy

Since the Eagles hit the road to play a very talented Bills team, McCoy will be counted on to step up big time after his poor showing a week ago.

McCoy carried the ball nine times, but he only rushed for 18 yards. He did have a touchdown reception, which helped him avoid a terrible game for his fantasy owners.

I fully expect McCoy to pick it back up and cruise on by the Bills subpar defense. They're giving up an average of 129 rushing yards per game, and McCoy will make the most of each of his carries.

He'll get it done with his feet and his hands in route to a big day for the Eagles top rusher.
