Fantasy Football 2011: Week 5 Wide Receiver Rankings

Ryan LesterOct 5, 2011

Here’s the LestersLegends’ Week 5 2011 fantasy football wide receiver rankings.

1.  Calvin Johnson vs. Chicago:  Every week he scores a pair of touchdowns. It’s just not fair. Da Bears are allowing 301.5 yards per game.

2.  Greg Jennings at Atlanta:  So much for Finley cramping Jennings’ style. He’s averaging 91.5 yards with three touchdowns.

3.  Wes Welker vs. New  York Jets:  Welker is on pace for 2,464 yards.

4.  Hakeem Nicks vs. Seattle:  After 10 catches for 162 yards and a score it appears he’s healthy again.

5.  Vincent Jackson at Denver:  He’s dealing with injuries but is averaging 93.5 yards with three scores.

6.  Roddy White vs. Green Bay:  Expect a shootout. Packers are giving up 335.8 yards per game.

7.  Steve Smith vs. New Orleans:  Has gone over 150 yards three times this year.

8.  DeSean Jackson at Buffalo:  Consistency is an issue, but he's capable of putting up a monster game, as evidenced by his 171-yard performance last week.

9.  Larry Fitzgerald at Minnesota:  Averaging nearly 100 yards with two TDs the past three weeks.

10.  Mike Wallace vs. Tennessee:  Big Ben is banged up, as is the Steelers offensive line, but Wallace keeps producing. He’s averaging 113.5 yards per game.

11.  Jeremy Maclin at Buffalo:  Averaging 8.3 catches for 104.7 yards the past three weeks.

12.  Stevie Johnson vs. Philadelphia:  Averaging 78.5 yards with three touchdowns. Should be a shootout vs. Eagles.

13.  Julio Jones vs. Green Bay:  Averaging 121 yards the past two weeks.

14.  Brandon Lloyd vs. San Diego:  Eight catches for 136 yards last week indicate he’s healthy again.

15.  Reggie Wayne vs. Kansas City:  Colts’ offense has some life with Painter.

16.  Dwayne Bowe at Indianapolis:  Averaging 91.7 yards with two touchdowns over the past three weeks.

17.  Percy Harvin vs. Arizona:  Vikings continue to find ways to get him the ball.

18.  Sidney Rice at New York Giants:  188 yards in two games.

19.  Jordy Nelson at Atlanta:  Averaging 73.0 yards with three touchdowns. Falcons giving up 275.5 yards per game.

20.  Santonio Holmes at New England:  The Jets want to go back to ground-and-pound, but the Pats’ weakness is pass defense (368.8 ypg).

21.  A.J. Green at Jacksonville:  Consistency is an issue, but has hit 100-plus yards in two of his past three games.

22.  Pierre Garcon vs. Kansas City:  Garcon had a great game on MNF and should be solid once again.

23.  Mike Thomas vs. Cincinnati:  Thomas gets a ton of looks and should be a solid option as Blaine Gabbert gets more comfortable.

24.  Eric Decker vs. San Diego:  Has four touchdowns catches in the past three weeks.

25.  Plaxico Burress at New England:  Patriots fans will cringe when he scores a touchdown against them.

26.  Mike Williams (TB) at San Francisco:  Came around on MNF. Niners giving up 284 yards per game.

27.  Nate Washington at Pittsburgh:  Averaging 80 yards per game.

28.  Victor Cruz vs. Seattle:  Averaging 104 yards the past two games.

29.  David Nelson vs. Philadelphia:  Quieted last week (two catches, 18 yards) but remains a big part of Buffalo’s offense.

30.  Lance Moore at Carolina:  Colston is not up to speed, making Moore the safest WR option for the Saints.

31.  Mario Manningham vs. Seattle:  Did little in his return from his concussion, but should bounce back this week.

32.  Michael Crabtree vs. Tampa Bay:  Had five catches for 68 yards against Philly. Only an option because it’s a bye week.

33.  Robert Meachem at Carolina:  You know one of the Saints receivers will have a nice game. Meachem is a pretty good bet.

34. Johnny Knox at Detroit:  Not an ideal start, but he’s pretty consistent.

35.  Deion Branch vs. New York Jets:  After getting off to a nice start, he’s caught just one pass the past two weeks. Yep, he’s probably due.

36.  Kevin Walter vs. Oakland:  Walter gets a bump in value with Andre Johnson out.

37.  Devery Henderson at Carolina:  Didn’t catch a pass last week. He’s all or nothing from here on out.

38.  Marques Colston at Carolina:  It would be hard to start him after catching just one pass, but should play a larger role going forward.

39.  Michael Jenkins vs. Arizona:  He’s scored in two weeks and had 88 in another.

40.  Denarius Moore at Houston:  Averaging 61.8 total yards with three touchdowns.
