NBA Free Agents 2011: 5 Players That Come With a High Price Tag
NBA free agency usually means the stars are either going to sign a huge contract to remain with their current team, go elsewhere to make even more money or take less in order to possibly play for a championship.
Although this year has been troubled with the lockout, one still has to wonder who's going where and when.
Some free agents have already chosen to go elsewhere by playing overseas.
Others have chosen to remain in the states and wait out what could be a contract of a lifetime.
Although this year's free agency class doesn't have big stars like last year, there are still a few guys who come with a big price tag.
Here's a look at the top five.
Tyson Chandler
1 of 5After bouncing around between Chicago, New Orleans, Charlotte and almost Oklahoma City, Chandler found success with Dallas.
Chandler helped the Mavs win an NBA championship while nearly averaging a double double.
Chandler had some good production last season, but was it enough for the money he made last season?
He could take less money for a better chance for a championship, or Chandler could go for the most money he could make.
Nene
2 of 5Nene has been one of the most consistent players for the Denver Nuggets.
On any given night, Nene can get 15 points and 10 rebounds, as well as a block or two and some good hustle plays.
Although Nene has been a fixture in Denver, don’t be surprised if you see him jump ship for better pay.
Andrei Kirilenko
3 of 5Despite his numbers dropping some over the past few years, Kirilenko has been one of the Utah Jazz’s go-to guys.
Kirilenko can produce on both ends of the floor. Over his career he has averaged 12.4 points, 5.6 rebounds and two blocks.
Kirilenko was one of the top-paid players from the current free agent class. Although he may not receive anything near the $17 million he earned last year, don’t be surprised if he gets more than he's worth.
Kris Humphries
4 of 5Kris Humphries—or the baller that married Kim Kardashian—had a breakout year last season.
Humphries averaged a double double in rebounds and points last season. He also made about $3.2 million dollars.
He will most likely earn well over that amount with his next contract.
And given his newly found fame, he could possibly be one of the top earners in this year's free agency class.
Marc Gasol
5 of 5Marc Gasol saw an increase in points and rebounds during last season’s playoffs.
Gasol has the potential to be just as good as his older brother Pau.
Other teams may try to go for Gasol, but Memphis will most likely match just about any offer to keep their star center.
Because Gasol is a restricted free agent and has potential, he could cost a pretty penny.
