NBA Trade Speculation: Four Teams Stacked with Assets That Should Make a Move
There are many teams in the NBA that seem poised to make a move once the lockout is lifted. Many of these teams have players in contract years. Others have players who are expendable and can potentially draw in big-name free agents who would like to play for a contender.
New league rules may change all this, but here are four teams who have many assets and should make a move.
1. Philadelphia 76ers
1 of 4The 76ers are a team with a ton of assets and can potentially make a big move.
They have Andre Iguodala, a player that has been suspected of being on the move for many seasons now.
Elton Brand has had a resurgence and could potentially be on the trading block for a team in need of a power forward.
And if they wish, they can part with young talented players, such as Thaddeus Young, Louis Williams or Evan Turner if the right deal were to come by.
The 76ers have many tradable pieces and should take advantage of their situation.
2. Los Angeles Lakers
2 of 4The Lakers have a great deal of players whom the team may view as expendable such as Lamar Odom who is in the final year of his contract, and other players, such as Andrew Bynum.
The two players are very serviceable to any team and would attract a ton of interest around the league.
This would also free up space for the Lakers to make a trade for a player such as Dwight Howard., especially if the Magic could receive Bynum or Odom in return.
3. New York Knicks
3 of 4The Knicks were a hugely improved team, but declined greatly in the end of the season. Despite acquiring Carmelo Anthony, the Knicks appeared outmatched in the series against the Celtics and were eliminated.
With that in mind, the Knicks may be looking to make a bigger splash via a trade.
To possibly upgrade their PG spot, the Knicks could ship away a player such as Chauncey Billups for a player such as Chris Paul. They also have many role players that they could package together in that deal to further entice other franchises.
4. New Jersey Nets
4 of 4The Nets have a ton of role players who could be shipped out in a trade. These include players such as Jordan Farmar who could be very serviceable to any team out there.
A franchise could lessen its cap room burden and receive some useful pieces. The Nets in turn could continue to build up a strong roster, along with Brook Lopez and Deron Williams, to eventually build a contender.
