NBA 2K12: NBA Lockout Makes 2K12 the Only Game in Town

Gabe ZaldivarSep 30, 2011

It's about this time that I begin to get giddy with anticipation for the NBA season. With the lockout playing the role ofas Grinch, my NBA season will have to be of my own doing in NBA 2K12.

I can still have the high drama of a regular season, played out with my favorite players past and present. The game that took hours of my life last year is threatening to do the same thing this year, but it will also fill a void.

If you want to know what the current state of affairs in the NBA is at the moment, you only have to take a look at the bags that are being packed by NBA's elite.

Kobe Bryant is in the middle of considering a move to Italy as the clock ticks down to zero on CBA negotiations.

The league and union are set to meet again this weekend. The season hinges on this all-important weekend. If there is but a hiccup to negotiations, or if there looks like there is no headway either way, games will be cancelled.

On October 4th, 2K Sports will release the latest iteration in their marvelous NBA 2K line. I have been on board since Allen Iverson adorned the cover.

NBA 2K12 will give us another chance to control the legend Michael Jordan. They have also promised to give us a shot at other legends like Larry Bird and Magic Johnson, among others.

The "My Player" mode has also been boosted to give a lot more pleasure in taking your one avatar to the Association and bringing back legendary results.

For the next few weeks, we will whine about player ratings and how teams are set up. The great things about sports is the commentary and discourse.

With no season, we are left to imagine how things would be. NBA 2K12 gives us that chance, delivering another hit video game along the way.

If the players and league can't settle on a CBA, I say fine. If you need your fans, we will be shut in our living rooms playing the next best thing.
