Kerry Collins Injury: How Is Colts' QB's Concussion?
In the fourth quarter of the Indianapolis Colts' 23-20 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, quarterback Kerry Collins left the game with a concussion, leaving backup Curtis Painter to finish the game.
To say the Colts' quarterback situation is concerning would be an understatement. Turning in the injured Peyton Manning for Collins or Painter is like trading in a Lamborghini for a jalopy. It just will never look like a good swap.
Here is the latest on Collins' injury and what to expect moving forward.

Injury Update
There has been no word on the extent of Collins' concussion since he left the sidelines for the locker room. He suffered a vicious hit from Steelers linebacker James Farrior late in the third quarter and ended up leaving the game shortly thereafter on the first drive of the fourth quarter. He will likely be evaluated further on Monday.
When Will He Ready to Return?
Concussions are tricky to evaluate. Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick came back on Sunday after sustaining a concussion against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 2, but generally a player will be held out for at least a week given the NFL's stricter policy on concussions, particularly in light of last season's concerted effort to prevent further brain damage in its athletes. It all depends on the severity of Collins' concussion at this point.
Fantasy Impact
Collins wasn't exactly setting the world on fire when he was on the field, but star receiver Reggie Wayne was still producing with Collins at the helm. That can't be assured if Painter steps in. Coming into Sunday's game, Painter had a total of 28 passing attempts. He didn't exactly impress anyone when he came in, either, missing Pierre Garcon on what would have been a touchdown on the first drive of the fourth quarter.
My advice? Don't start anyone, not even Wayne, with Painter under center.
What They're Saying
Tweeted Sam Farmer of the LA Times:
"Just talked to Jeff George, who lives in Indy and says he could pick up that Colts offense in a matter of days.
"
I have an idea, why not invite Brett Favre, as well? Or Kurt Warner? Or another old, retired quarterback? Hey, couldn't hurt at this point.
