Randy Moss Rumors: Why Contending Teams Should Ignore Future Hall of Famer

Justin WeltonJun 7, 2018

According to ESPN’s Adam Shefter, Randy Moss would be open to returning to a contending team.

Shefter lists the New England Patriots, New York Jets, New York Giants, Dallas Cowboys and Chicago Bears as potential suitors for the future Hall of Famer.

Why? Why on earth would any contending team want a guy like Moss? He does more harm than good, and his history suggests that. Those teams would have to be severely desperate to take a chance on Moss. He has been deemed a “cancer” to just about every team he’s been on.

Why would you want to risk any type of team chemistry you may have to bring in a guy like Moss? He “plays when he wants to,” is the line I always link him with. You don’t want a player like that to bring your team down.

Playoff teams need players who are willing to sacrifice for the benefit of the team. He is known to pout when not getting the ball thrown his direction. Plus, he is well past his prime.

He didn’t make the Minnesota Vikings better last year. He didn’t make the Tennessee Titans better last year. Moss doesn’t make any team better anymore.

In 16 games played in 2010, Moss collected 28 balls and five touchdowns.

Teams would be making a crucial mistake if they even pondered the thought of bringing the diva to their city.

A player who is past their prime needs to be able to do the little things to help teams. They need to be leaders, they need to block, they need to be uplifting to their team and they need to be able to do one thing well. Moss doesn’t do anything well anymore. His deep-threat capability was something he did well in New England, but he doesn’t carry that anymore.

Any team who who is considering Moss should re-think what they are doing.
