NBA Free Agency 2011: Marc Gasol and the 4 Hottest Players on the Market
While players and owners have yet to end the NBA lockout, fans and analysts alike have been forced to sit and wait for change.
Some NBA players, like Deron Williams, JR Smith and Wilson Chandler, have chose to make change happen for themselves by playing basketball internationally.
Both Smith and Chandler were free agents this summer, but won't be eligible to play in the league until they finish playing the Continental Basketball Association's season.
Despite the current situation of the lockout—and the fact that there won't be any big name players in this year's free agent class—there are still some solid players on this list.
Here's a look at 4 of the hottest right now.
4. David West
1 of 4Over his career David West has averaged 16.4 points, 7.3 rebounds and 2 assists per game.
West is a two-time All-Star who was New Orleans's second-best player behind Chris Paul.
West also brings good fundamentals, a decent mid-range game and good rebounding skills to the Hornets.
At the end of last season West suffered a bad knee injury which may have dropped his stock some, but if West is able come back and produce like he has before, he will be a great addition for any team.
3. Tyson Chandler
2 of 4Tyson Chandler may not be known as an offensive threat, but he can still put up a good 10 points on a nightly basis.
Where Chandler really shines is on the boards and defense. Chandler also has pretty good footwork which is vital for a big man.
2. Nene
3 of 4Throughout Nene’s career he has been one of the most consistent players for the Denver Nuggets.
Nene averaged 14.5 points per game last season and continued to be a good player on both ends of the floor.
Nene has been solid throughout most of his career, even when coming back from injuries.
1. Marc Gasol
4 of 4One of the main reasons the Memphis Grizzlies were able to upset the San Antonio Spurs in the playoffs this year was Marc Gasol.
During the regular season Gasol averaged 11.7 points and 7.8 rebounds per game. Those numbers rose to 15 points and 11 rebounds during the playoffs.
If Gasol continues to improve, he has to potential to outshine his older brother, Pau Gasol.
