Ron Artest: Dancing with the Stars Exit a Blessing in Disguise for Ron Ron
Ron Artest's stint on Dancing With the Stars lasted one day. The controversial NBA star was the first contestant eliminated from the show, but in the grand scheme of things, this is nothing but good news for him and his career.
Artest, now officially known as Metta World Peace, is scrambling to find work since his normal job as starting small forward for the Los Angeles Lakers is in doubt thanks to the NBA lockout.
He has dreams and goals that he wants to achieve, like becoming a multi-platinum rap star, but he can't do that wasting away on the dance floor.
Dancing With the Stars was just a launch pad that Artest would use in order to get established performers like Katy Perry and Lady Gaga to notice what he can do on the dance floor, and in turn, they would hire him to be a part of their worldwide tours.
Artest won't be able to commit to doing those if he is stuck dancing the waltz on an ABC television show. He is a tiger, and you can't keep a tiger in a cage.
He has to have room to stretch his legs and show the world all he can do when he isn't restricted by the shackles of Dancing With the Stars.
The show was a nice publicity stunt for Artest, and a way to keep him busy since he doesn't have to go to work any time in the near future.
But his dreams go way beyond becoming the next mediocre celebrity to win a dancing contest that is more about how popular you are in society than how good of a dancer you actually are.
Artest's early exit from Dancing With the Stars was the best thing that could have happened to him and his career because he can now chase all those big dreams that he had before he agreed to sacrifice his time dancing.
