Ron Artest: Metta World Peace Dances His Way off DWTS

Eric BowmanJun 7, 2018

Metta World Peace, formerly known as Ron Artest, was eliminated from Dancing With The Stars last night, which is a slap in the face to not just the athletes that have competed on the show but athletes everywhere.

The first person voted off is typically a contestant not very well-known, a little overweight or just old. That wasn't the case this year, but at least the viewers got one thing right.

They sent home somebody who just couldn't dance.

World Peace may not have been the worst dancer on the show, simply because we saw him do just one dance, but it was clear from the start he wasn't going to last very long on this show.

The voters sent him home early, which puts the pressure on soccer star Hope Solo to represent the athletes well.

An athlete has won the competition six times, and five athletes have finished second or third. The LA Lakers' star posted a 14 out of 30 on the first night, and even though he knew he did horrible, most thought he would at least have one more shot.

This just proves that NBA fans don't really watch Dancing With The Stars, and if they do watch they either A) don't vote or B) dislike Metta World Peace/Ron Artest.

Perhaps he deserved to be voted off right from the start. After all, non-NBA fans needed to be captured by Artest immediately, but once he led the show off with a terrible rendition of the Cha Cha, all hope was lost.

Not to mention his recent name change just confuses everyone, and the bleach blonde hair looks awful. You can't blame people for not wanting to see that on their television anymore.

Professional dancing isn't easy by any means, which is why I commend World Peace for agreeing to the show.

Of course, since he doesn't have a job because of the NBA Lockout, this must have been purely about the money.

I'm sure he would have liked to have lasted longer on the show because nobody wants to be the first one kicked off, but the show just wasn't meant for World Peace.

Since he doesn't have a job right now, one can't help but wonder what World Peace will do next.

Before he joined the cast, there was talk of him playing basketball in Europe, but after he laid an egg on a popular television show, who knows if he'll show his face anywhere until the NBA starts back up again.
