Hope Solo: Soccer Star Shouldn't Sweat First Cuts in Dancing with the Stars
Hope Solo has a stress-free night ahead of her.
Like her play in this summer’s World Cup, Solo was nearly perfect in front of a national ABC audience that received an 18.6 rating.
She and her dance partner, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, twirled around during their set which included some pretty complicated footwork. Hope also looked gorgeous in her attire.
The judges had mostly praise, and the duo ended up with a 21 out of 30. The only groups to score higher (22) were the teams of Chynna Phillips and Tony Dovolani and J.R. Martinez and Karina Smirnoff.
The first cut of the 13th season of Dancing With the Stars is tonight and there were far worse contestants than the goalie of the U.S. women’s World Cup team.
She will have nothing to worry about considering fellow athlete Metta World Peace (formerly Ron Artest) scored an extremely low 14. Yet with the vast amount of LA Laker fans out there that root for their player, expect Mr. World Peace to survive.
So, who will get the axe?
The next lowest score belongs to model Elisabetta Canalis with a 15 and reality TV “star” Rob Kardashian.
I’m hoping it's Kardashian, who is really stretching the definition of “star” for this contest. He didn’t look like much of a dancer whatsoever and should get the boot.
As for Solo, there is hope that she can win the contest. She bashfully admitted her dancing skills were lacking and it was going to take awhile for her to get comfortable. The judges noticed that she looked stiff and needed to relax.
That will all come in due time for Hope. For now, watch her slowly improve every week and eventually flip her competitive switch on and make a serious run at the title.
As for Tuesday night—no sweat.
