NFL Picks Week 2: Predicting the Results of Every Week 2 Game

Michael MillJun 7, 2018

Week 1 is now in the rear-view mirror, and it's time to sit down and focus on the matchups for this weekend.

After all the upsets from a week ago, it makes predicting results for this week a bigger challenge than usual.

There will likely be many great games and many more upsets this week.

Here are predictions for all the Week 2 games in the 2011 NFL season.

Oakland @ Buffalo

Both teams are off to a 1-0 start after facing mediocre opponents last week. Ryan Fitzpatrick was fantastic against the Chiefs, and I expect for that to continue against the Raiders.

Result: 27-20, Buffalo

Green Bay @ Carolina

Cam Newton's 422 passing yards in his first career start took the league by surprise. This Dom Caper's defense is going to give plenty of different looks to confuse Newton. The Panthers defense without Jon Beason will be no match for Aaron Rodgers and company.

Result: 38-17, Green Bay

Kansas City @ Detroit

Kansas City was pummeled last week by the Buffalo Bills. The Detroit Lions are a team on the rise thanks to quarterback Matthew Stafford. If he can make it healthy through the entire game the Lions should have few problems.

Result: 31-17, Detroit

Cleveland @ Indianapolis

Although this is one of the less desirable matchups of the weekend, it may actually be one of the more exciting games. The Colts will continue to falter without Peyton Manning.

Result: 20-17, Cleveland

Tampa Bay @ Minnesota

Tampa Bay was upset by the Lions in the opening week. Despite this, they still are a good football team. Donovan McNabb will have to throw for more than 39 yards if the Vikings are to have any shot. How long until Vikings fans start chanting for Ponder?

Result: 30-20, Tampa Bay

Chicago @ New Orleans

This used to be a game of the Chicago defense against the New Orleans offense. After Week 1, it appears that Chicago may have finally found an identity on offense. That may be the slight edge the Bears need to start 2-0.

Result: 31-27, Chicago

Jacksonville @ New York Jets

I just can't put any faith in Luke McCown. Not that it's much easier putting faith in Mark Sanchez.

Result: 28-10, New York Jets

Seattle @ Pittsburgh

The Pittsburgh Steelers were completely embarrassed last week in the hands of the Baltimore Ravens. There is no way a Mike Tomlin-coached team comes out and plays like that two weeks in a row.

Result: 38-13, Pittsburgh

Baltimore @ Tennessee

The Baltimore Ravens defense made Ben Roethlisberger look like a high school quarterback last week. Can you imagine what they have in store for Matt Hasselbeck? The Ravens make a statement with this game.

Result: 42-10, Baltimore

Arizona @ Washington

Rex Grossman and the Washington Redskins shocked the New York Giants last week. Still, nobody is really taking the Redskins as a real threat. Maybe they get attention after starting off 2-0.

Result: 35-31, Washington

Dallas @ San Francisco

The San Francisco 49ers showed in Week 1 the type of football they plan to play. They played smart and conservative, capitalizing on opponents mistakes. Dallas is a team that will make plenty of mistakes. It won't be enough.

Result: 31-20, Dallas

Cincinnati @ Denver

The Bengals showed in Week 1 that they are going back to what worked in 2009 when they made the playoffs. A heavy dose of the running game against one of the worst run defenses in the league will push the Bengals to a shocking 2-0 start.

Result: 23-20, Cincinnati

Houston @ Miami

Miami's secondary got eaten alive by Tom Brady and the Patriots. Andre Johnson isn't going to make things easy for them. I expect a high-scoring affair where Miami again just can't keep up.

Result: 42-28, Houston

San Diego @ New England

The Chargers absolutely dominated Minnesota in every aspect of their Week 1 game. However, they only walked away winning by seven points. Tom Brady won't throw for 39 yards like Donovan McNabb did.

Result: 34-28, San Diego

Philadelphia @ Atlanta

The "Dream Team" face a nightmare in Michael Turner. Turner gained 100 yards on just 10 carries last week. The Philadelphia defense has a glaring hole at linebacker. It's going to be an ugly lesson for the Eagles.

Result: 35-31, Atlanta

St. Louis @ New York Giants

This week's Monday night game features two NFC playoff caliber teams who are off to 0-1 starts. The loss of Steven Jackson will just be too much for the Rams to overcome in this matchup.

Result: 27-20, New York Giants
