Ravens vs. Titans: TV Schedule, Live Streaming, Radio, Game Time and More

Adam WellsSep 14, 2011

When the Baltimore Ravens play the Tennessee Titans in Week 2, it will be the first time that these two former division rivals have met since 2008. This used to be one of the best rivalries in the NFL, but these two teams have gone in opposite directions the last few seasons.

The Ravens are riding high after destroying arch-rival Pittsburgh in Week 1. That was, without a doubt, a message game to the Steelers and the rest of the NFL that this team is a force to be reckoned with. The defense forced seven turnovers, and the offense had its way with one of the best defenses in the NFL. But after such an incredible win, they could get too confident and be upset if they take this game lightly.

The Titans are looking to get off the schneid after last week’s embarrassing loss to the Jaguars, a team that just released their starting quarterback days before the game. Chris Johnson is going to need a big game against this vaunted Ravens defense if they want to stay in this game.

Where:  LP Field in Nashville, Tennessee

When:  Sunday, September 18 at 1 p.m. ET

Watch: CBS (Local Affiliates), DirecTV Channel 706

Listen: WBAL 1090 AM/98 Rock FM (Baltimore); WGFX 104.5 The Zone (Nashville); Sirius Channel 149 (Tennessee)

Betting Line: Ravens (-6), Over/Under 37.5

What’s At Stake?

The Ravens can take control of the AFC North with a 2-0 start to the season. They have already knocked off their biggest division rival, and now they need to keep that momentum going against an inferior Tennessee team.

The Titans can get right into the thick of the division race in the AFC South with a victory. Apart from the Texans, there does not appear to be any above-average team in that division, and a 1-1 record will put you in the mix to contend. It is still early, obviously, but this is a big game for the Titans.

Ravens’ Injury Report

CB Chris Carr suffered a hamstring injury last week and is listed as questionable for this week’s game.

CB Jimmy Smith is out this week with a high ankle sprain.

LBs Sergio Kindle and Jason Phillips, CB Chykie Brown and WR Tandon Doss have been made inactive for this week’s game.

Titans’ Injury Report

S Chris Hope and DE Williams Hayes both suffered shoulder injuries last week and are listed as probable for this game.

WR Damian Williams injured his hamstring against the Steelers and is listed as questionable this week.

RB Javon Ringer is battling back spasms and is listed as doubtful this week.

Fantasy Start ‘Em

Ray Rice, RB, Baltimore: Rice ran for over 100 yards and one touchdown last week against the best run defense in the NFL. The Titans gave up 163 yards on the ground to the Jaguars last week. This one is almost too easy. If you have Rice on your team, expect another big game this week.

Fantasy Sit ‘Em

Chris Johnson, RB, Tennessee: As good as Johnson is, the Ravens defensive line is arguably the best in the NFL . Haloti Ngata is a stud and makes everyone else up front that much better because he commands so much attention. Johnson will eventually get his rushing yards, but it won’t happen this week.

Fantasy Sleeper

Ricky Williams, RB, Baltimore: As good as Ray Rice is, the Ravens are going to feature two running backs more this season to ease the burden on their star running back. Williams had a solid game last week against the Steelers with 63 yards on just 12 carries, and against the Titans this week he could put up close to the same number of yards and score at least one touchdown.

What They Are Saying

Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said that Lee Evans is a true difference-maker for this team already.

"Lee opened up a couple crossing routes for us where he takes the top off the coverage, and if they don't run with him, Joe's going to throw to him," Harbaugh said. "He cleared out some of those deep crossing routes that you saw. Dennis Pitta's comes to mind. So I think he had that kind of impact."

Titans head coach Mike Munchak believes that his team has no reason to be in panic mode right now.

“One week doesn’t make a season,” he said. “Don’t over-panic. If we had won that game or lost, the same thing. We have a very good opponent coming in, and you have to believe in what you have done.

“You don’t throw everything away after one game because certain things didn’t work out the way you’d hoped.”

Ravens’ Player To Watch

Ed Dickson, TE: The Ravens made additions to their receiving corps this offseason, but the most important move they made was releasing veteran Todd Heap and handing the tight end job to Ed Dickson. This offense needs a productive tight end to live up to its full potential, and after one week things look promising. Dickson will emerge as the most important receiver on this team as the season moves on.

Titans’ Player To Watch

Matt Hasselbeck, QB: Opposing teams are going to line up to stop Chris Johnson and make the Titans beat them through the air. Hasselbeck had a good game last week against an average Jacksonville defense, but he will have his hands full this week. They need to establish the pass early to set up the running game.

Matchup To Watch

Matt Hasselbeck vs. Ravens Secondary

If the Titans want to have a chance to win this game, Hasselbeck has to be the quarterback that he was when he was leading the Seahawks to the best record in the NFC in 2005.

The Ravens’ secondary looked impressive against the Steelers last week, but I think in an honest moment they would tell you that if there is one “weak” area in the defense, it is in the secondary.

The Titans have good playmakers on the outside, like Kenny Britt, and they have the potential to break a few big plays in this game.

Prediction

Ravens 27, Titans 13
