20 Sickest Highlights of the Goodman, Drew and Pro-Am Leagues

Ethan NorofJun 7, 2018

The most rim-rattling highlights from the exhibitions involving the Drew, Melo and Goodman Leagues have been rather fun for fans to watch.

While Kevin Durant has had a summer for the ages, he isn't the only player that has delivered a series of entertaining plays for us to enjoy thoroughly.

These 20 highlights are of the single-serving variety, meaning that all mixtapes and reels were out of play when compiling this list.

We're taking on individual plays, and there are a lot jaw-dropping ones here.

20. JaVale McGee with a Monster Block on Gary Neal

1 of 20

Normally a block from some summer league competition wouldn't even make it into this compilation, but McGee re-defined what it means to swat a shot.

When defending Gary Neal's attempt to penetrate the lane, McGee didn't just knock it away, but he just grabbed the ball at its peak and landed on his feet like it wasn't even a big deal.

19. JaVale McGee Dunk off of the Jump Ball

2 of 20

It's not everyday that we see an alley-oop directly off of a jump ball at center court, but it's not often that the court sees a center in McGee's mold.

McGee won the jump, and then he proceeded to run down the court and deliver immediate excitement to the crowd in attendance.

18. Kevin Durant Blows by Michael Beasley at Dyckman Park

3 of 20

Durant has really made his presence on the court fell with every stop he's had on his balling tour, and that includes when he played at Dyckman Park.

Michael Beasley thought it would be a good idea to challenge him out on the perimeter, but then he got toasted just like the rest of 'em.

17. JaVale McGee Tries to Break the Rim

4 of 20

McGee's athleticism is well-documented and the center is blessed with the innate ability to jump over just about anyone.

That talent was on full display when McGee attempted to break the backboard by delivering an earth-shattering jam that nearly brought the rim down with him.

16. Kevin Durant Flexes Brandon Jennings

5 of 20

Durant and Jennings have battled in summer exhibitions for a few months, but K.D. keeps coming out on top.

Jennings has had some flashy moves of his own, but this summer has belonged to Durant, and his flex at the end was right in Jennings' face so he knew who claimed top dog status.

15. Kevin Durant Gets Swarmed by Rucker Park Crowd After Dropping 66

6 of 20

The step-back three is certainly impressive considering that it's from beyond what I would classify as "distance," but the 66-point performance he delivered on the night is what's the real story here.

After the three-pointer, Durant gets immediately swarmed by fans just waiting to explode on the court, and rightfully so.

14. Kevin Durant Loses His Dribble, Still Manages to Deliver Highlight Slam

7 of 20

Durant has been so good this summer that even on his slip-ups, he manages to create some sort of highlight that we grovel over.

I don't think he planned this type of dribble-drive through the lane, but it still resulted in a large slam dunk for the Durantula.

13. DeMar DeRozan Breaks Derrick Williams' Ankles

8 of 20

DeMar DeRozan doesn't get a lot of credit for his ability to handle the rock, but he put Derrick Williams on blast with this ankle-breaking move.

Williams definitely got him back at the opposite end, but not in the same fashion that DeRozan did prior.

12. DeMarcus Cousins with Back-to-Back Slam Dunks

9 of 20

Cousins has received a lot of flack for taking too many jumpers during his rookie season with the Kings, and it appears he's making a renewed commitment to his game beneath the rim.

On back-to-back trips down the court, Cousins abused JaVale McGee in the post and threw it down with passion, and I can only hope that's a preview of things to come during the next stages of his career.

11. JaVale McGee Gets His Head over the Rim

10 of 20

As noted previously, McGee's athleticism is downright freakish, and the fact that he can get his head above the rim is scary considering he's a legitimate seven-footer.

But to accomplish the feat off of an alley-oop and on a play where he gets fouled, well, that's just a jaw-dropping moment for basketball fans.

10. Derrick Williams Gets Nasty over Unsuspecting Defenders

11 of 20

The Elite 24 Midnight Run is always a fun event to watch, but Derrick Williams really made an impression this summer.

On this particular dunk, Williams slams it home over a couple of defenders that had no idea he was even creeping up behind them.

9. Donte Greene Alley-Oop from Josh Selby

12 of 20

This dunk is downright nasty, and I'm talking about the very first one in the video.

Donte Greene throws it down after receiving a lob from Josh Selby, and Greene's athleticism is something that's waiting to be unleashed upon the NBA.

8. Kobe Bryant's Game-Winner at the Drew League

13 of 20

Bryant stopped by the Drew League unexpectedly, and in typical fashion from the Black Mamba, it only took one game for him to deliver the game-winner.

He may have only scored 43 (despite a previously reported 45), but really, who cares? He dominated anyone and everyone that the opposition stuck on him, and made James Harden's 50-point effort a non-story.

7. LeBron James Explodes Through the Lane at Drew League

14 of 20

When James casually stopped by the Drew League, he looked really good, consistently hitting jumpers from a variety of spots on the floor.

However, like usual, he was at his best when using his explosive athleticism to find success near the rim, and that's the idea he held when executing this play.

6. John Wall Alley-Oop to Kevin Durant

15 of 20

The alley-oop has been in full effect throughout the summer in a lot of these exhibition games, but none have looked this good.

It's absolutely salivating to think about what Wall and Durant could do together if the two played on the same team, and they make basketball a lot more fun to watch.

5. Brandon Jennings off the Heezy

16 of 20

Remember the popular video game NBA Street? Brandon Jennings has perfected a special move.

That off-the-heezy that Jennings just abused the defender with is really no joke, and I'm pretty sure that the opposition couldn't have been happy that he let it happen.

4. Josh Selby Destroys the Rim

17 of 20

Josh Selby is one star of the summer that isn't getting his proper due when discussing those that have been the most successful.

He's really made a name for himself, and Memphis look like it got an absolute steal by swiping Selby in the second round of the draft.

3. Kevin Durant Makes His Presence Felt at the Melo League

18 of 20

Another moment from the Durant summer archives, only this time, the Thunder superstar took his traveling act to the Melo Center.

Clearly, his domination over the rest of the competition on the court with him was not limited to any particular stomping ground.

2. Kevin Durant off the Backboard to Himself

19 of 20

For a summer that has been fixated on what Durant did at a variety of venues outside the Drew League, he came in and gave a hell of an effort in the Drew, too.

As for this particular highlight, Durant rises up and throws it off the backboard to himself like it was meant to happen without complication.

1. Brandon Jennings off of the Backboard to Himself

20 of 20

Jennings has really tried to improve his game this summer, and he's been competing in a number of pick-up games in an effort to stay in basketball shape.

He really made the roof come off of the building when he delivered this jam, doing his best Durant impression—only with far more emphasis.
